Do you feel relaxed when your cats are outside?

I...................don't. I'm getting a bit more used to it and am not as uptight all the time but I can feel myself relax once they're in and safe and I kind of think to myself "Glad that's over with again".I only let them out when I'm about and up to now Harry (who tends to go a bit further afield) has only gone out of sight for an hour or so.I let them out because I know they enjoy it so much, and would go out more if they had their own way...........their slave doesn't enjoy it one bit though.

I never liked Oscar going out and always said one day he would either be stolen or run over! The latter happened to Oscar right outside my house! He was in a bad way but survived! So for that reason im never allowing him out alone again! He has got very good on the lead and harness now

Well yes and no. I worry as they are my babies but I feel it enriches their lives and I can see they enjoy it so....

Re: Do you feel relaxed when your cats are outside?

I don't let them out unsupervised for that reason - I would spend the whole time stressed and worrying. They are far too young to be alone and I certainly don't want them roaming around. However I do want them to experience the outdoors with all its smells, noises, space and unpredictability. They are let out almost every day (weather permitting) and we sit in the garden with them making sure there are no escape attempts. We have also bit by bit gone through all escape routes in the garden and blocked them off.

The only thing we do have to provide is a high point for them to sit and observe the world from, as we have now blocked off the trees and fencing, and I know Wilbur liked the fence not to jump over but to sit on watching the world go by.

Funny as I never thought twice about letting my childhood cat out, but I am so protective of these guys. With cars, chemicals and cruel people I think sadly the world has become an unsafe place

i'm quite happy because my cats have access to a large adjacent to the house and so i am not worried about them going out.

Re: Do you feel relaxed when your cats are outside?

There are all fields at the back of me (where they go more often than not) and I'm in a quiet cul-de -sac at the front...........it doesn't stop me worrying though as I guess wherever you live they can get to a road eventually.

No i do not like it, although my older girl just goes in the fields behind our house and catches mice, my 6 month old will only go in the garden and neighbours gardens thankfully.

Re: Do you feel relaxed when your cats are outside?

I hate it!! my late cat Little Mo only ever sat under the car on the drive. would always come to me calling her but if i could get away with keeping her in i would.

The 2 new kittens i shall make a decision later on at only 11 weeks ive got some time yet... It was a main factor in me getting 2 so they can keep each other company.

Re: Do you feel relaxed when your cats are outside?

i only let them in the garden under my supervision. i'm lucky that tigger and button only like to play near the door, while bryan stalks the rockery. though bryan managed to catch a mouse and sneak it upstairs into my bedroom tonight :-(
