Hi newbie getting kitten tomorrow!

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I'm getting my first kitten tomorrow. It's one of these two little sweethearts, the female of the two but I'm not sure which one from this pic;

I'm a little concerned as I don't drive and am having to go from SE London to Baker Street to collect her - not worried about myself of course, but about the little one being carted all that way back. Is there anything I can do to make it easier for her? She's three months old. Or is this just a complete no-no??

Please help, am due to pick her up at 2pm tomorrow.

I'm not a southerner so have no idea of the time that will take you, but my kittens are from somewhere 1 hours drive away with no problems.

Re: Hi newbie getting kitten tomorrow!

I would recommend taking a blanket to cover the carrier. The sights/sounds are what would stress her out and that should help.

Depending where you are in London I guess it would take 1 or 2 hours? Which is fine timing wise. Try non rush hour if you can. And if it is a hectic one just give her time and space when you get home for her to unwind

Good luck pls show us some pics when you get her home

Re: Hi newbie getting kitten tomorrow!

Thank you guys... I'll do what you suggested. And will definitely get lots of pics once she's here and settled in. I will probably be on here a lot, being that she will be my first feline baby. I had a darling hamster before, I lost him just over a month ago, and though I miss him, I am ready for another furry now! I'm picking her up at about 2pm, so should be avoiding the rush-hour getting back luckily.

Oh how exciting - they both look gorgeous

I am sure you won't be, but don't travel by tube on the way home as it is bloody hot and crowded at all times of the day and as you know London is full of tourists at the moment which pack out the transport even more.

I have seen people take their cats on the tube and the cats looked scared - too many smells, too many people, too much heat!

I bet you have bought loads of toys already?

Re: Hi newbie getting kitten tomorrow!

Ooh no, I wouldn't take the little mite on a tube. I don't like them myself, so a little kitten would hate it and no doubt be scared stiff! I do have toys, have to get a scratching post today before I pick her up.

I'm a little concerned though as I asked the current owner what food the kitten eats - as I know you're not supposed to change their food suddenly - and she said 'she's not fussy, any supermarket brand'. That makes me think she's not a particularly good owner, and I hope she's been looking after her properly. But it makes me want to rescue her from there all the more!

Has your kitten been wormed, flead & vaccinated? Only ask as hasn't been mentioned

Good luck

Re: Hi newbie getting kitten tomorrow!

Hehe, I don't plan on bringing two home... will try and stay strong. lol She's been dewormed and deflead, I'm not sure about vaccinations. Might have had the first round.. they have two don't they? I'll ask all that when I get there. I'm a bit concerned about this person who has her at the moment, she's not very forthcoming and getting the info sounds like it'll be like getting blood out of a stone! Just checking out the easiest journey online now...
