I like to cover the bases as best as I can. We're pretty careful about the doors but cats are wily creatures, and they are fast. We have people in and out all the time so I cannot guarantee that my cats will never escape therefore I like to protect them, just in case.

Tell me about it. Oscar runs out of the front door every time I come home and then spends time meowing outside it if I haven't seen him and close the door. (Yesterday he was there for 10 minutes before I figured out where he must have gone) Thankfully we have a communal door so it isn't so much of an issue, but I don't understand why he gets so excited to escape only to sit there pining to be let back in!
Both my cats have had their vaccinations and will be getting their annual boosters and this decision was made before decided to allow them some outdoor time. Needless to say they will be getting annual boosters too.
