Most rescues are manned by volunteers and it can take time for them to return calls! Keep trying! That is what I did with Cleo. Sooner or later they will call!

Re: Oh for goodness sake

I've been researching rescues in my area and discovered that some of them won't even entertain me because I'll live in an apartment and don't have access to a garden/outside space for the cat . Now I don't meant to be rude but I think the level of attention and love (and care - vets etc etc) a cat gets is surely more important??!

I don't see how a garden makes me a better owner (my parents 2 old boys have always had outdoor space so I'm all for cats having it IF POSSIBLE). SOme people have gardens and treat their cats badly anyway... there was a post tonight about someone going on holiday and shutting a cat out the whole time.... I know places have policies but surely they should be more individually focused?? (e.g. what cat has had before/is used to, what can be provided and all that) not just NO... ?

I totally agree. One of my local rescues doesn't rehome any of their cats as indoor cats which is a bit of a shame

Oh and the woman I mentioned last night who was rehoming 2 kitties due to her son's asthma hasn't bothered replying to me today after agreeing for me to let her know this morning!!
Hi,

I rescued 3 6wk old kittens a few weeks ago because the stupid woman was rehoming them. I told her i was having them and took them to a local animal sanctuary. Where they were fostered straight away by an experienced cat owner. Could not think about them being that young and going to some muppet !!!!

Re: Oh for goodness sake

Well I tried another local rescue who had been advertising on facebook that they had rescued lots of animals including kittens. Spoke to the woman but she said the kittens are all feral

Re: Oh for goodness sake

We were turned away from all local rescues....2 young children & a dog was a huge rescue No No! Which is a shame! So we had to go down the pedigree route ((although I'm so so glad as we wouldn't have Maisie otherwise))

You should look into pedigree rehoming sites hmm...let me see...

Untitled Document

This kind of thing but google for your area! Lots of different ages etc, maybe worth a go

Thanks, will look into that there's a few moggys round here but I'm sick of people trying to get rid of them at such a young age. And the one's who don't, just seem to mess you around

Re: Oh for goodness sake

So, finally got a reply from the woman with the two 4 month old kittens she is having to rehome due to her son's asthma - well I commented on the advert she posted and she replied saying they are still there but she was really busy yesterday and that's why she didn't reply (my second message to her simply asked if the kittens were still available, a simple yes or no would have been sufficient). Then another woman comments saying she said her friend would take them and the woman selling said I was getting them..to which the other woman replied asking why she said she could have them if they were already gone.

She has just messaged me saying she's had lots of people interested but I was first to get back to her so I can have them if I still want them...she told me on monday night I could have them and agreed for me to let her know for definite yesterday. She's obviously been telling other people they can have them too

They are free to a good home so people are obviously just jumping in wanting them because they're free! Annoys me that she had agreed I could have them and then has clearly offered them to other people though!

When we picked up Eva from the vets a couple of weeks ago, the lady who runs the local rescue was there, and we got talking about Eva and how we weren't sure how we were going to manage things because she was used to being outside, but Sam and Milly are both indoor cats. Her response was, "Try to keep her indoors if you can. It's too dangerous for cats to be out on their own."

It made me feel really good, especially remembering how I'd had to lie to the CPL and tell them I was putting a catflap in so they'd let me have Milly.

Hehe, made me giggle that you lied - it's stupid for them to expect every cat to be an outdoor cat! I was thinking of lying to them too. How can every cat be an outdoor cat? And putting something like that on your website is going to put off so many people who could potentially offer a very good home for an indoor cat.

Lots of cats are happy to be indoor cats!
