Re: Kitten's constantly crying?

I'm on the phone to vetsnow, just on hold :-( I don't know if its her first litter but she isn't right, she seems exhausted and isn't touching her food except for the odd lick.

Re: Kitten's constantly crying?

She's feeding them at the moment, and they said to take Pixie to see the local vet tomorrow, one of the kittens was trying to suckle but getting nowhere as she kept moving away, so they said to hand-feed them aswell just to top them up

I can't be sure but i THINK if i remember correctly, mum cares for every aspect of her kittens until they're 3 weeks old and then after 3 weeks mum tends to back off a little. Still feeds them obviously but backs off to encourage them to explore, then by 4 weeks they'll start getting steady on their feet. Plus mum must be exhausted and needs a break from them so it could be nothing, Maybe put the kittens on the floor and see how mum responds to it.
But if she is off her food and acting unwell in any way i would take her to the vets as soon as you can to get checked out!

I did that and she just sat and watched them, occasionally walked over to them and one tried to latch onto her whilst she was standing up then she backed away again I'm more concerned about the fact that Pix seems so quiet and not eating much, i've managed to get a small bit of fish down her and gave her the meat she loves and she's not touched it

oh bless, Poor Pixie! it must be soooo exhausting for her, plus she must be getting really sore as well! They don't have the option to bottle feed like we do when the going gets tough! Poor thing Do you have any formula milk you can give the kittens to give mum a little bit of a break? You could even try Pixie with a bit of the milk as well.

Re: Kitten's constantly crying?

Hun stick with the vets advice, but if she should get worse at all through the night call them back and ask if they can see her

You know your girl and if you think she is getting worse don't take no fr an answer.

As for topping the kittens up, have a look at some youtube clips. Not Ideal, ideally it's best if someone shows you how. But for now that will have to do. Just stear away from clips that feed kittens on their backs or with their heads lifted high. The good ones will be the ones which simulates a normal feeding position for the kits on mum. Just be really really careful, and don't feed them too much. EDIT: Of course you've done it before... I'll leave that advice there anyway for anyone else who might read in similar situation

Hopefully come tomorrow when you get her to the vets they might be able to give her a boost.

I don't suppose you have any Nutri drops in do you?

Re: Kitten's constantly crying?

What are Nutri drops hun? They are all quiet at the moment and she's let them feed but got the milk just in case, if I think she is getting worse, then il be taking her down the vets whether they say to or not :-) I know each and everyone of my cats, and as soon as I saw Pixie I knew there was something wrong with her, especially as she didn;t get up and run to me as she normall does. Thanks for all the advice guys, I appreciate it x
