Moriarty Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I was sat playing the wii and I hear Moriarty outside meowing. It wasn't his usual meow so off I went to investigate.

Nothing could of prepared me for what I saw. Moriarty eating a butterfly!!!

He has only had one kill in 3 years and here he is taking on a butterfly!!!!! I love the fact he called me to see. "look Mummy I can do it, are you proud of me"

I have pictures and film oh yeah!!!!!

Moriarty eating a butterfly - YouTube

I think he knows his time out side is getting shorter as he is becoming an indoor cat slowly. By the time he is adjusted the cat run will be sorted hopefully!!

Re: Moriarty Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He can still hunt such things whilst indoors My boys unsuccessfully hunt moths quite often

Once they were chasing one, and it landed on Mush and they had no idea where it had gone. They are basically amazing at hunting

Re: Moriarty Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really is amazing to watch a cat stalking something like a moth or a fly, they become so focused and the way they move a tiny amount amazes me.

He doesn't usually hunt though. That's why I'm so amazed!!!!

Last night a wasp came in and Moriarty looked up saw Tabitha running around like a lunatic and went back to sleep. I was trying to stop her getting it and it was chaos!

He'll be able to hunt in the run though, should the urge come over him again!

Beaming with pride

I'm really paranoid about them getting wasps. One night three came in at once and I was running round trying to get them all

Me too. Hence the chaos!

It came in at around 3am and I was stiff as a board and trying to get to it before Tabitha did. Then the stupid wasp landed on the floor.

So at 3am there's me on my hands and knees trying to get Tabitha back with one hand and trying to wack the wasp with a slipper in the other. All the time Moriarty was zzzzzzzzzing away

In the end I won but the victory cost me 2 dislocated wrists a dislocated knee and about 10 kitten scratches and 5 kitten bites.

I think I'd rather have been stung

Dear me !!!

Re: Moriarty Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooh goodness, must be a shock if you're not used to him catching prey! Did he eat the entire butterfly?

Monty caught a housefly a couple of weeks ago and ate it. He crunched it and everything. I was strangely proud... does that make me weird?

I felt bad the other day though. I showed him a spider on the bathroom floor and he kept putting his paw on it. Then he "ate" it... but five minutes later spat it out and the spider ran off?!! Had to put the spider in the garden after that as I felt so guilty about traumatising it!

Ugh butterflies can't taste very nice can they? Whatever floats Moriarty's boat eh!

Yeah, I was joking with my friends that it was like the Bionic Spider. Couldn't believe it was still alive!
