getting paint off a cat :S

we had a slight vandalism problem last night..someone chucked paint all over our front door step..

i woke up this mornin to a purple kitty..she has it all over her legs..she is long haired and i have no idea how to get it off her before she washes it off as i dont want another vet trip..she has spent her life down the vets as she isnt a healthy kitty anyway..has numinous problems that's been treated through her life so far i dont want to put her through more if i dont need to.

is there anything that safly gets dried paint off cat fur.. ?

thank you

x

Re: getting paint off a cat :S

Hey,

it depends on if it's wet or dry and what type of paint. If it's wet and emulsion you may be able to just wash it off with shampoo (do you like how I say "just wash it off" - if you can get her near the bath/shower) if it's dry or gloss I would say you may be better cutting out the fur as much as possible and washing off what's left (as much as you can).

What a horrible thing to do...why would someone chuck paint at your house?!? Make sure you report it to the police.

i think my mums botfriend said its water based paint so she will be able to wash it off..i just aint confident that its not harmful for her..its dried as she would have got it over her during the night..i will cut what i can off i think..n try it that way

the police know and we are waiting for them to get here so they can record it as we dont own this house. :S

Make sure you take photos of your poor cat before and after you clean her up too in case someone is caught.

Poor little thing she must be so confused! It may take a while but warm soapy water should help wash it off ( I have just decorated my house so I have had to do similar to myself).

Re: getting paint off a cat :S

Maybe a cat grooming place could advise? If it is something like gloss, solvent-based paint, that stuff is sooo nasty if you get it on your skin, as I found out recently, on human skin anyway, it was better to scrub it out even till the skin was sore than to leave a little bit on because it really burned the skin. I know it is little comfort but probably good for the cat that she has long hair if the paint is in that rather than on her skin I really hope they prosecute the culprits.
