Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
Hello,
I bought a little laser light for my cats. One of them loves it so much! The other worked out I was making it happen and lost interest. Anyway, I mentioned it to a colleague who said they can make cats go funny because even when they catch it there is nothing to catch. What do you think? I am more concerned about behavioural issues than anything else - they are rescue kittens. K xx |

great way of wearing them out and quickly distracting them when they are about to embark on naughty behaviour such as clawing at the carpet! |

Re: Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
My understanding was that these toys are not suitable for dogs, especially Collie types which get obsessed with them or with chasing shadows. I have not heard of, or experienced, any problems with the cats although I do often throw them a mouse toy at the end of a laser play session so they have 'caught' something solid.

Re: Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
Is there a difference between a laser being sold as a pet product and one that isn't?
I have one of these but I'm wondering if it's too bright for a cat to play with and maybe a different one would be better |

Re: Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
I use a laser pointer I picked up at a work conference, not anything special for cats. It works a treat, just don't shine it into their eyes (that goes for any living thing really) as previously said as it will damage your/their eyes.

Re: Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
I think Tabitha is bored with hers as she has hidden it somewhere
![]() I knew I should have taken the key ring of it. Well I'll be moving hopefully soon no doubt I'll find it under something with god only knows what. Maybe she'll bring it to me when her interest in it comes back. Em xxxx

Re: Do lasers cause behavioural issues in cats?
Well obviously I wouldn't be shining it into the cat's eyes but I was wondering as when I point it at a wall or the floor the dot itself is very bright(at least to me it is)

As you have said you are not going to be shining it in the cats eyes. |
