cat carrier crisis

Hello everyone ,
esme is nearly four months now and has been to the vet three times (not through sickness, for injections etc.) i have her carrier down in a room all the time and she often snoozes in there. when goin vet i put the gate bit on that keeps her in and she haaaaates it, im sure all cats do, but she really scrabbles through the bars with her paws and was trying to squeeze her head through whilst screaming at me to free her, i calmed her down buy putting some of her dry food through the bars but she lost interest in that after a while and started crying and stuff i feel bad, i know its only once in a while that she gets shut in it but do anyone have any advice i dont want her to hurt herself next time!!??

Lola was the same, and would constantly try to get out, in the end I brought the cabrio carrier and she tends to go in it now without any problems.

Re: cat carrier crisis

Someone once told me that if animals are v nervous in carriers it can help to drape a blanket over it. Not sure why it works...either the dark calms them down or the stress of seeing the outside world and not being able to get to it is removed

Re: cat carrier crisis

You could try feliway spray on a blanket.
(I don't know if it's the tiredness but I just had a 'brilliant' product idea. Feliway should make moist wipes that we could just rub on the kitties and make them clean, happy and calm. )
Emma-Jayne and lost kitten like this.

Re: cat carrier crisis

As already stated , i would get a spray bottle of FELIWAY and give her carrier a spray just before she goes in there it may help to settle her down....good luck........Chris

I've got the Cabrio carrier, and it is very good! I leave it open on the spare bed with a blanket inside and often find Molly asleep in there. When it's time to go out in it she never makes a fuss ..... slight downside on it, it is quite big, therefore quite heavy when there's a cat in there!
