What made you choose your cat's name?

Lola was originally Lily, but Lily was a name I liked for a baby girl, so changed it.
Pixie was abandoned and I wasn't sure what her name was, but she's so small, she reminded me of a pixie.
Salem's mum was called Sabrina, and it made me think of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and her cat Salem lol
Gloworm my 3 year old named as when she saw him, she thought it was her glo-worm toy as they are the same colour and now its stuck.

Re: What made you choose your cat's name?

Another Gloworm?

Pandora is Pandora because I liked the name, simple. When she turned out to be a he, I was pretty gutted - and we'd had him for 6 weeks by this point, so it stayed as Pandora.

Schrodinger is obviously after the Schrodinger's Cat experiments and my OH always said when we got a cat, one had to be called Schrodinger.

Pyrrha looks like Purrer, even though it's pronounced Pie-rah, which was why I was initially attracted to it. Pyrrha was Pandora's daughter in Greek mythology, so there's the tenuous link to my other cat. It also means red/flame/fire and she is a red and white tabby.

Eowyn is so called as we wanted a Norwegian name, but to be brutally honest - they're all really manly and not pretty, so OH picked this one from LOTR, where Eowyn is the shield maiden, shield maidens are mentioned in Norse sagas and there again, is the tenuous link! Most of the time she gets called Wynnie though.

Aurelia already had her name and we liked it so it stuck

Tinks is short for Tinkerbell ... Itty is short for Charity ... We were watching a certain soap when they were born The two other kittens were called Chaz and Cain (well Cain until he had a sex change ).

Re: What made you choose your cat's name?

Monty was already called Monty and he looked like a Monty, Maudey was called Wilma and I couldn't ever possibly call her that so I went with Maude, but neither are really known by their names as Monty is usually Moo or Moomin/Moomin Bear and Maudey is Maudeybag baggage or cow bag

Gypsy was a stray who just wandered into our kitchen and kept wandering in and out over a week so she got nicknamed Gypsy and it stuck - she's now been with us for a year!

Re: What made you choose your cat's name?

Well, when we knew which kittens we were going to have we started to think about names. I liked Bijou and Pandora but my eldest daughter suggested Poppy because she (Poppy) was small and black like a poppy seed. After the kittens were here for a couple of days, that name just seemed to fit with her personality so it stuck.

Oscar just looked like an Oscar to us. No other name seemed to fit him.
