Re: Litter training!!

Hi, My 2nd kitten Indy was not litter trained despite being told she was

She would do what you are describing but the other way around.

How old is your kitten ? that may have something to do it, especially if the kitten has left mum too early.

The next time your little fur baby pee's over the floor...soak up with kitchen paper and try to get the pee and scent of it over the litter..even leave a little bit of the soaked tissue in the litter. Pick your kitten up and let her sniff the litter and tissue and put her in he litter tray as much as possible.

Also clean the area where your kitten is peeing thoroughly as the scent may be attracting he/she back to that area

Hope that helps

Kelly

Re: Litter training!!

He's about 6.5 weeks we found him abandoned on the street a couple of weeks ago. When I put him in the kitchen on a night he uses the litter tray is just when i let him wonder about. I've done that wi the tissue but he picked it up and took it outa the tray n in the last hour he's decided to poo by the front door too now. I need to get him trained as my partner didn't want to keep him anyway n if he keeps going all over the carpet I don't think he'll be staying very long

Re: Litter training!!

Poor little kitten
That's probably the reason, he was taken (or left) his mum to young x

is it possible to put another litter tray by the front door for him?

Re: Litter training!!

aaah..poor little thing
Why dont you put a few litter trays around the place...honestly your kitten will pick it up and learn to use it.
It took Indy just over a week..that was continually cleaning the areas thoroughly each time and putting the litter trays over the soiled areas.
Keep putting the wee and poo back in the litter tray..gross i know but it will give the kitten a scent to follow. Just keep taking the kitten back to the litter tray especially after eating or drinking.
A vet check will help to check for worms or any nasties, this will normally be free at the vets to check your kitten over.
Really hoping you keep your fur baby as the amount of love and joy and satisfaction you will get from saving this little one, will make these first few weeks a distant memory

Keep posting for advice, we will be able to get you through it

From what I remember on how to toilet train a young kitten.

1. Put the kitten in the litter tray and scratch the litter with it's paws or scratch in it with your hands.
2. Put the kitten in the litter and take a cotton ball and stimulate the rectal area like a mother cat would do to make the kitten poo (sounds ugly but works).
