Re: Getting a new kitten - what do I need?
2 is fun if you fancy 2
![]() Make sure they are 12 weeks and vaccinated before you get them, rescue centres are very good for making sure the kittens are tip top (flead, wormed, vaccinated) before going to new homes ![]() I would say kittenfostermummy has it covered, perhaps you would like to get a water bowl and maybe a cat tree (cat climbing frame)

Re: Getting a new kitten - what do I need?
add pet insurance to that list
A budget for vaccinations and neutering if they haven't already had that. Pet wipes and pet friendly cleaners/ detergents I think everything else has been covered. |

Re: Getting a new kitten - what do I need?
Welcome and congratulations!
I think you already have a great start by coming here and asking! I adopted my kitty last year and this forum is a real life saver. I suppose you will need to decide • what kind of litter tray (covered, uncovered, deep, shallow) and litter (clumping, non clumping, clay, wood, corn, silica...) • what food will you give (wet, dry, raw, grain-free...) and these are the easy things: • scratching post (a good sized one so you won't have to get another when they grow) • carrier (depend on the size of your cat. If you have a storage problem, I recommend the wicker carrier that doubles as a bed) • grooming tools (a brush and a nail clipper. I use my nail clipper as the one I got from the petshop does a terrible job) • toys (don't necessarily need to come from the shop. Hairbands, corks, straws, tennis balls are loved by kitties) • water and food bowls (ceramic are favourites. Easy to clean, non-allergenic and don't absorb odours) • treats (to train your kitten and therefore make your life happier) and later you can adjust yourself to other needs • beds, blanket, cushions • cat grass • fountain • vacuum cleaner • a second cat.... ![]() |

Re: Getting a new kitten - what do I need?
Thank you all!
I would love to get a second cat but right now that would be pushing it, so hopefully later in I can get a buddy for him/her. On the case of the gender, we have no preference. It really depends on the personality. We're looking to adopt and most likely just a mixed cat. :3 |

Re: Getting a new kitten - what do I need?
Everyone has missed on of the most important things a new kitten adopter will need and that is:
Plasters Savlon Bandages For all the playtime scratches ![]() Good luck on your new arrival. Em, Moriarty and Tabitha Edit: Welcome to the forum!
