Outdoor Cat Run Ideas/Pictures

Hey lovely cat owners.

I am thinking on making an outdoor cat run/kennel which would be attached to the window. I have browsed Google but it seems like there isn’t much variety. Would any of you have any ideas on where to buy customized runs or how to make one? Also, if anyone has got a run that runs out of the window, it would be lovely to see some pictures.

My idea is to attach a tunnel to the window with a run on the other side.

This is the only website that I found and the pictures gave me some ideas but it is Australian so it doesn’t help much. I think that building a run is not as complicated as a tunnel which most probably I would need to buy.

Thanks

No!!! What did you want to know?

Could you take a picture of your garden and where you want to put the cat run/tunnel to help us visualise it better and how many metres/metres it is.

Was thinking of making a cat run similar to how a green house is made for plants, but on a smaller scale. It may be more expensive but it looks quite nice.

Only difference would be is that the top is flat with a screen over it to stop it from getting too hot. Plus your can make a tunnel which goes from the house to the cat run or a door flap.

You can also add an insulation cover over it in winter to protect it from the cold and make it snugly for the cat.

If you want to you can put plants in it since it will also be a green house and the cat might like a few bushes and flowers than just plain grass.

You can either use glass screens or plastic screens like in the shower. They come in clear or frosted/coloured.

Re: Outdoor Cat Run Ideas/Pictures

Our garden is quite big and there is a long path to get there so enclosing a garden would not be an option. I've just taken a picture and added how it ''COULD'' look like.

@vivien, what sort of engineer?

@Merenwenrago, that is brialliant but we can't attach it to the house because of the path..

I feel sorry for poor Gypsy as it is so obvious she would like to go out. Due to the main road and all the foxes around here, that is not possible.

Well it can also be stand-alone greenhouse catrun was just giving an example how it would attach to the house if the need arises.

For a good tube tunnel you can also use plastic instead of mesh.

To get through the roof with a tunnel you would need to create a ramp going along the walls to the bottom.

I can try draw it let me see with paint.

I guess plastic is an option.

Lets see what you are made of...get hold of that paint!

Re: Outdoor Cat Run Ideas/Pictures

Hope it is easy to picture since it is harder to draw with paint than CAD at work

It is not to scale or anything and the hatch placement can be moved and the stairway/ramp.

Edit: Fixed Pictures

Re: Outdoor Cat Run Ideas/Pictures

Wooow, this is great!! Thanks a lot!

I like the ramp idea a lot...Once the ramp is inside the ''green house'' I guess I could use wooden chicken ladders..

Now I need to find a way of making all that or find someone who could make it for us.

I would be very interested to see how others have done it.
