Best litter for indoor cat

I am currently using an antibacterial non clumping litter but the litter tray still smells. I scoop it every day but his wee is what smells.

Re: Best litter for indoor cat

I dont think I could deal with non clumping! I have that for my rabbits and it gets pongy quick!

For my cats I use Cats Best Oko Plus (available from pets at home but cheaper on zooplus.com) I have never had any issues with wee smells, and very rarely have issues with poo smells.

It is flushable so you can flush the poo/wee clumps straight down the loo if you so wish, and I rarely do a full tray change so it lasts a good amount of time.

Is should be, he might get a bit confused if it looks/feels differently. You could try putting a bit of the new in with the old but I would try just switching myself. as long as they trays in the same place and you show him it should be okay?

How old is he? He looks teensy in your pic. His wee might start to smell a bit if his hormones kick in early. Mine were neutered at 6 and 7 months and I never had any wee smells though.

Re: Best litter for indoor cat

I have just changed my two from Catsan to Oko Plus and I had to do it slowly and mix the two, I did try when they were younger but they stopped using the trays so I had to change back to Catsan but this time they seem to have accepted the new litter thankfully.
