I know this one, i can get away doing many things but when oh says no, it does mean no, i know how far i can push it

jo-pop - good luck in persuading your husband. I had to work on mine to get my girls but he is really soppy about them now even though he pretends he's not

Re: Need help persuading hubbie

We'd been talking about getting a pet for about 2 years before it actually happened - he wasn't *against* he just thought we didn't have the space or time, so I just kept doing my research about what kind of care and attention a cat needs until I felt confident we could give that and felt confident I could reassure my OH also that we could do what was needed, and then when the right living situation came along and we had extra space, I just kinda really went for it.

Re: Need help persuading hubbie

Hi Jo, firstly welcome to pet forum, I was never a big cat fan but all thats changed now, we have 4 Ragdolls and a huge Maine Coon cat that we show, now i feel that my house wouldnt be a home without a cat in it , they are so sociable, they love children they are very clean pets and give you hours of fun playing, Maybe you could suggest spending a sat afternoon at a cat show near to you and then he will see how many men get involved in the cat world, it shocked me. and we have met and made some great friends too. the one bit of advice i can offer is if you do decide to get a resue cat then try to get a kitten or a young cat so as your child and the cat grow up together, with an adult rescue cat you cannot always be sure of its background and the last thing you need is a cat that isnt child friendly. Im sure you will get your husband to see things from your point of view soon lol all you women have your ways of getting around us guys in the end hahahahaha, good luck and please keep us informed..............Chris

Re: Need help persuading hubbie

Hi everybody. Thank you for your advice and encouragement.
The one I had my eye on turns out to be unsuitable for a family but I have seen a couple of others. Both brought up around young children so very used to them. One tortie and one all black. Id be tempted to go for the black one as they are so often overlooked.

I have it all drawn up and ready. Ive printed it off and put it in a very formal looking envelope hehe. I thought maybe it would be best to let him read it through first then have a discussion. It does highlight vert bills, the fact a cattery would be needed for holidays etc but the pro's outweigh the cons.

Just seems a shame that our house is lovely, the area quiet, I am home quite a bit, i'm quite knowledgeable and very responsible..... yet there is no cat here. So many need a home
