One of ours escaped in the garden once and we couldn't find her anywhere....our neuter male sat in the same spot for ages until we worked out that's where our missing kitty was...in our old air raid shelter!!! Reminded me a bit of lassie!
It wouldn't let us near it so we're planning on going back there in a bit to offer it food and check it's condition, if this cat is as smelly, skinny and flea-ridden as the kitten was then were going to try and take it back here to shelter, feed and treat it for fleas. I'm not sure if the cats were abandoned or just escaped?

If they are in as bad condition as you say, then they obviously weren't someone's pet or maybe had been a long time ago.

It would be great if you could get the other one as well because if they were together and you have taken one away, it won't be long before they won't recognise each other any more.

Keep us posted

Lou

Re: Found a lost kitten!

*update*

This other cat that we think is the mother still won't let us get anywhere near her, she gets spooked by cars and seems to be a very nervous cat. We'll keep offering her food though incase she really doesn't have a home.

The kitten is still with us and has now started charging around the house like he owns the place! He meows with the other cats when he wants feeding and has really settled in here. He's very warry of the outdoors so must have really disliked his time outside?

Keep putting food out for the mother cat and perhaps she will get to trust you but do check to see if anyone has lost their pet. She might be a stray still rather than abandoned, though I must admit it doesn't sound like it from your description of her condition.
best of luck with the kitten - he certainly sounds as if he has his paws under the table

Re: Found a lost kitten!

It looks like the cats staying with us, we've searched round to see if people have put up lost kitten posters and knocked on a fair few peoples doors, we've informed the vets and checked websites and no-one has phoned to claim him.

The cat we suspect to be the mother is getting harder to find, after a few days we've only spotted her once and are a little concerned that she might be loosing condition, though we can't get close enough to confirm it. Still trying though.

The kitten has reeaaally settled in here and has even learnt to use the catflap now. He drives one of my other cats made, chasing him up and down the house, it's lucky he's so tolerant! Though kittens a little warry of my large ginger cat, he must look intimidating to him because my cats never raised his paw to the kitten lol
Heres one of mine and the kitten crashed out together!

Will make another update if we ever get this other cat to trust us.

Re: Found a lost kitten!

That is soo sweet! Your youngster has certainly made himself one of the family!!
I do wish you luck with finding the mother cat and getting he to come to you. It sounds as if she would be well loved if you do.

He has a blue bell collor (no tag) so he must have an owner. When we offered him some cat food he wolfed it down like there was no tomorrow! He does feel a little skinny and is also completely infested with fleas and possibly dehydrated too!

Today we took him to the vets to check if he was microchipped but no luck. This is now day 2 and no-one has phoned to claim him! We've treated him for fleas (and the other cats too). For now he's very well settled here and another woman has offered to take him in if we can't find the owner.

Heres the poor little kitty we found..

ahhhhh he looks like my cookie

We're thinking of calling him Leo since he's got the personality and confidence of a Lion lol

I've just got to get out of the habit of calling him kitty! XD
