Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
I have used an AC quite recently, with some perceptive and interesting results. She knew things about the cats that I hadn't told her or even hinted about. I just wanted a general "are you happy, do you need anything?" kind of thing and found it quite useful.
However, while I was still living in the UK, I did a bit of AC myself. I am slightly "psychic" and thought I'd give it a go. One of my colleague's cats had gone missing overnight and she was worried. I said I'd try and "tune into her" when I got home. This I did, and got an image of some garages and a rather rueful little kitty, hanging around them while defiantly staying away from home. I got the image of something shiny, like tinsel or shiny balls. It was quite near Christmas, but not so near as us having our Christmas tree up at home. I asked this kitty what she was up to and she said she was in trouble and staying away for a bit, but was now heading home. The next day at work, I said to my colleague, "hey, I guess Mog's home, then?" She said that she had returned home the previous evening. I asked her about the circumstances leading up to her going missing and she said she'd been playing with the baubles on the Christmas tree, and had pushed it too far, been told off and basically been put outside to cool off. I asked my colleague if there were any garages near her house and she said yes, just behind. Now, this colleague is really unconventional, and I never imagined she'd be a traditional Christmas tree type of gal, and having it up so early, but she was and she did! I regularly "chat" with my cat Misi and the AC said that she had felt surplus to requirements because Misi had already discussed everything with me!! There are many things we cannot hope to understand, and I don't understand how all this works, but some people just seem to "know" stuff and they don't know why they know it. I'm like that. I knew when my sister was pregnant, I knew when my friend was pregnant, twice. No reason to know, I'm not maternal or anything, have no kids of my own, but I just knew. Long post right back at ya!!

Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
Sooty and I had an excellent bond, so I always knew what was going on with him. The only time that faultered was in the end when his pelvis broke. Probably in part because all he knew was that something hurt, but didn't know why, but mainly because I was in denial. Wish I could actually speak to him again

Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
I think that the bonds we build with our pets can border on telepathy. A best friend is a best friend, doesn't matter if they're not human. Poor Sooty. You've made me cry again

Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
Hi,
I find this thread really interesting and I've never had experience with it directly so at the minute I'm on the fence. I would love for someone though to try and communicate for me? My cat Sooty, my best friend went missing a few years ago I had him from the age of me being 8yrs old until I was 20/21 and he just disappeared. I realise now he would be very old and probably even passed on (I'm only just turned 25) but if someone could contact him and let me know if he has passed on and if he's ok it would mean the world to me. Second thing is, if someone wouldn't mind, contacting the missing chocolate Labrador Brooke on behalf of his owners who have been desperately searching for him for 10months now. x |

Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
Hi kayk,
This is a pretty old thread from last year but I got an email saying someone had replied to the thread so thought I'd give an update on how I feel now on the subject. I'm still sort of undecided but probably leaning more towards the 'it's BS' camp! Whether this is because the one time I really really needed some help from an animal communicator they let me down i dunno... She told me really specific things about where Bubble was and built my hopes up so many times but in the end left me feeling let down and probably missing her even more than I was originally. Her last communication told me that she'd "sensed" that Bubble had passed by another house and was now living there. Had I still been paying for her services by this point i would've said to her "Well tell you what love, can you actually PROVE it this time 'cause I think you've sent me on enough wild goose chases!" I understand totally your need for closure even concerning a pet who's been missing for years. Bubble has been gone 9 months and I still think about her every day. My 2 year old still mentions her name at least every other day and says she misses her. I can still shed a tear over cats & dogs I had years ago too. Many of the 'better' (as in the ones with glowing testimonials they've probably written themselves!) AC's though don't do missing pet cases. The cynical in me would say that this is because they have to produce actual results (ie. bring a pet home) and their reputation is on the line if they don't do this as opposed to having nice half hour conversations with Fido's mum about how much he loves his walks and his dog biscuits and wishes he could have more... There's also not many (any!?) out there offering their services for free or communicating on request. This was debated earlier in this thread =- about whether they should do this for free or charge - I do think they should be allowed to charge if they have a genuine gift and want to make it their life's work - but I know if it was me and someone I knew was really grieving and needed help then i would give that help regardless of whether they could afford me or not! In all the time i was posting on AC boards, missing pet boards etc not one of these so-called communicators or pet psychics offered to help me for free though so read into that what you will ![]()

Re: Animal Communication - your opinions on?
I have had an experience with someone who isn't a regular AC, she is psychic, but feels rather ashamed of it, she is afraid people will think her crazy when she tells tehm she can sense what animals are seeing, feeling or experiencing, and she can communicate with them. She is on another pet forum I am on.
But when my Tosca disappeared, and I was convinced she was dead, she told me she sensed her (from the other side of the country, too), she was locked in somewhere where it was dark, there was a window with cross-shaped lattices, so the window was divided into 4 smaller windows, and there was a rotting smell. She also told me Tosca was hurt on the left side of her head. Tosca came home after having been missing for 2 weeks. She had streched her collar so it was wide enough to get her left paw through, and she had a festering wound on the left side of her neck and chest and under her left 'armpit'. So the wound on the left side was true (though it wasn't her head), and the rotting smell came from the wound. And just about the time Tosca came in, this woman logged on to the forum (very late at night) because she felt Tosca was finally free and heading for home.

Quote:
Being a Christian, I believe in certain things but there are many many people out there who will take advantage. But then Derren Brown said it best. He said something like: I don't believe we can communicate with the dead or allow them to speak through us, but if suggesting [to the grieving person] that their loved one has moved on and is happy gives [the grieving person] closure, then I see no problem. I sort of agree. If that person needs closure and a "medium" helps them, unless they are charging extortionate fees, then I see little fault. However masquerading it as some sort of "I can speak to dead people" I do have problems with :P *SMACKS HEAD* - A year old thread?! Tut, should have looked before I wrote. |
