Letting them out

We rescued 2 beautiful cats 3 weeks ago, they are friendly, lay'd back, out going, everything you'd want in a cat, they want out! They are lurking at doors windows etc, the female is ever peeing at the front door! They have just slipped past me and got out, we managed to catch them as I wanted them out the back in our nice safe garden first (the thought of letting them out scares me) but they seem ready? Should I? Is it a bad idea?

How old are they, and are the neutered and vaccinated?

If you do not want them to go outside, they will adapt to being indoors. Were they litter trained before you got them, or have they been outdoor cats previously?

Re: Letting them out

They are 5 & 1 yes vaccinated, tagged, chipped, neutered, fled, wormed, all the bells and whistles, I don't want them to be indoor cats no as I like my house being open and having a breeze though for the kids to come and go, they are litter trained yes, and no idea on indoor cats

As GM as said there are alot of factors to consider, before letting them out.

I just wanted to check it's not to soon? The rescue said between 4-6 weeks, it's only been 3?

Re: Letting them out

I would usually think 2 weeks would be enough to get used to where they are. Let them into their garden first, when they are hungry Theyll come back for tea

Personally i would take the rescues advice only because i have not had rescue cats before and mine are indoor cats. Maybe they will need longer to get used to their new surroundings o

GM maybe able to advise you better
