Did the rescue centre not say whether they had been used to going outside.Did they come from the same home. The reason I ask is that cats who are not used to being outdoor will not be "street wise" I'm thinking particularly about the older one.Do you live in a fairly safe area re traffic ect.

Especially for the 5 yr old, I would find out if they are used to going out, as if not I would be very wary of letting that one out.

They should have said if both cats/either cat had been used to going out.If they are used to outdoor life then there is not such an issue but as GWM says the older one in particular, if it has been indoors for all of its 5 years will not have a clue about traffic ect.I think it would be advisable to phone and check, before letting them out.

Re: Letting them out

I suppose it could be they were abandoned so the indoor or outdooryness is unknown? Seems strange though, seems to be one of the first things they specify on profiles usually. Did they ask you about outdoor space? Can't see a rescue centre letting an indoor and outdoor cat going together either.

Re: Letting them out

The rescue where I got mine from said to keep them in for 8 weeks before letting them out-they said they used to say less but had one or two go missing so they're being ultra cautious. Mine are only about 11 months and 9 months.Am going to start letting them out in a few weeks ,but only when I'm about and when they're hungry.
