Going slightly of topic but my Declan has FIV. He was diagnosed when he was about a year old (before i had him). He is now 8 years old and very fit and healthy.
My vet tells me he has a FIV positive cat on his books that is 12 years old and still perfectly healthy.
I know FIV cats get overlooked in rescue but they really do frequently live a pretty normal life span
