Re: Kittens re homed :(

Im no cat expert but I would have thought six weeks old was to young to allow kittens away from their mother/litter mates, even if you did hand rear.

Also at this age, I would be expecting them to start showing their wee personalities, exploring and coming out of their shells. This could be why hes being more active, as for following you this could be normal for a kitten that has been raised from you instead of its real mum, it will see you as the food supply..

someone with more knowledge will be along in the morning..

Re: Kittens re homed :(

12 weeks is optimal, 10 weeks is good, 8 weeks is usual in the US....but did I miss something? I can't find anywhere in the OPs post that they went at 6 weeks.

OP...I would guess that Ginge is missing his playmates and has bonded with you as his mum/food bringer and is following you around because he's feeling a bit lost without his siblings. He should adjust after a bit and not be as needy, but I'm sure he'll still love you the same as ever.

Re: Kittens re homed :(

It would have been much better to have kept them at least another 2 weeks but what's done is done.

Well done on the handrearing - no easy task. Did your girl get spayed during the C Section?

Hope the new kitten owners stay in touch with you with photos etc.

Re: Kittens re homed :(

The kittens were 8 days overdue in the womb and are 6 weeks 6 days old so in total they are basicallly 8 weeks old

they were vet checked before being rehomed and i would never had let them go if i didnt belive they were ready

I hand reared these babys from the brink of death i was told by the vets they wouldnt make it past a week old and i really dont think people should judge unless they are in the situation or a trained vet

I would like to add that the 2 babys went to my friends who live right by me and im in touch with them both everyday and both kittys are thriving in there new homes which im thrilled about

i appreciate people worrying but didnt gve the full history and that was my mistake
