How has he been with the chicken Gemma? Did he eat it ok? How long ago was that & were there any adverse effects? If he only did runny poo, what length of time was from after he ate?

Also, out of curiosity, what worming treatment have you / the breeder(???) been using?

Hi, he hasnt eaten the chicken but he has licked the chicken and drank the broth. He's only been for a runny poo about 4 times today and no sickness at all, only last night. The poo is quite mucus like but no blood. He's been sleeping alot but has just woken up and have fed him and he's aloud me to give him a cuddle with lots of purring.
If he still has a runny belly tomorrow he is definately going to the vets, they both are.
Shall upload some pics

I cant remember the name of the worming stuff. She said it was from Pets at Home and was around £5.00. When I went today to get some Panacur the lady in the shop said if it was the cheaper version of the syrup (not Panacur) it wasnt very strong at all and didnt kill ALL types of worms. Hmmm, but the runny belly has got worse since yesterday morning when it started. Mucus like diarrhea, is this a sign of anything in particular?

I hope it wasn't Bob Martins, Bob Martins is useless and doesnt do anything alongside being dangerous.

That or Beapher look to be the cheapest on the site.

I would always go to the vets for wormers. A) its cheaper most of the time, and B) you know for sure you are getting the right dose.

I'd have him at the vets now to be honest, kittens can go downhill so fast and he has had diarhea for days now.

Re: Kitten is home - not very well - advice please :(

Blake just had similar poops with the mucous and slight tinges of blood and he had Panacur for roundworms (which I think I saw in his poo) and coccidia. I'm thinking the coccidia might have been the culprit for the mucous and blood. The vet didn't find any in the poo sample, but he said it's pretty impossible to check diarrhea esp when it's in the box mixed with litter, so based on my description, he thought coccidia might be involved.

The good news is he perked up almost immediately after the first treatment--he'd been a little off his game when the diarrhea started--and has done nothing but improve since.

Good luck with the babies!

Re: Kitten is home - not very well - advice please :(

Only Drontal covers all types of worms but I think they only do tablets which is a faff.

When you go to the vet tomorrow ask them about Advocate it treats fleas and worms. It doesn't treat tapeworm but if they are indoor only then they don't really need a separate treatment for that unless they eat raw food (my kitten does so he gets a tapeworm treatment every 6 months)

If he starts getting worse tonight then get him to the vets but it sounds like he's not quite so bad today so tomorrow is probably ok to get them to the vets as long as the poorly one doesn't become listless.

He benefit from something like Fortiflora after you've seen the vet, it's a probiotic that can help their tummies and get them eating again when they've been poorly.

oh, and where are these pics?

Will get him to the vets for sure tomorrow. Going to ring in the morning. Think im going to have another night sleeping downstairs with them! OH is not impressed! I did read about Coccidia and it does seem to sound like the similar sort of diarrhea but I will only know for sure when ive been to the vets. I intend on getting any future worming stuff from the vets.
