Just wondered about this as,as a first time owner I've no idea whether what I'm spending is alot,a little or just about average.I have a large covered tray used by two cats and I use Biocatolet (recycled paper pellets) mixed with Asda Smart wood pellet and I reckon it's costing between £12-15 per month total for the 2 cats.I mix the two together because when my cats first came I was using solely wood pellet (this is what they'd been used to before) but I was fed up of the sawdust sticking to their paws and hoovering or sweeping it up all the time! The Biocatolet I think is really good as it's pellets but doesn't go to sawdust when it gets wet.It's more expensive than the wood pellet but by mixing the two together it goes further and it's cut down massively on the trails of sawdust which I hardly get at all now.(They do fling the paper pellets out sometimes when they dig but they're easily scooped up and put back in!).I don't find a problem with smells either as i do make sure it's scooped out regularly and a full change about every 3 days.My cats have been fine about the paper pellets being introduced and the other reason I keep some wood pellets in there is so they've got what they've always been used to.

i use pets at home antibacterial litter lasts my two 7-8 weeks for £9.79. I scoop twice a day to make sure & complety empty/refill once a week

I use Oko Plus for 1 cat. I got some bags in offer, so it's been quite cheap. So far I've spent €5.25 per month (wow, I didn't expect it!)

Mine goes out in the day to explore and enjoy the fresh air, and at night she sleeps in the kitchen safe and sound, with a litter tray if she needs it which is never used.

£16 a month on two large maine coon size trays filled deep, using Sainsbury's own clumping cat litter at £2/8kg. I can only fault it through the trackng, however I've got myself a handheld hoover so hoover up every time it's cleaned out, i.e. twice a day

I don't use litter since all my cats use the garden outside. Only time I use litter is for when they are too young to go into the garden without supervision.

so £10 so far for the new kitten

I use the crystal cat litter called Marltons or Bob Martins

Blimey...i must be doing something wrong, i am using catsan hygenic which i think is fab !!!....but i am getting through 3 x 20 kg bags per month for two cats costing me £30 !!

Mine can't go out yet Libralass as they've not lived with me for long enough yet and also have only just recently completed all their injections so I have to wait a while before they can go out from that point of view too.

Just out of interest,your cat goes out all day,what type of area do you live, in near main roads etc? I'm currently agonising over the decision whether to let mine out when the time comes?
