Fetch?

Does anybody else's cat fetch!?

It's starting to freak me out with Eric now. I usually throw his sponge ball across the living room and then he started running for it, bringing it back in his mouth and dropping it at my feet. Now he brings it upstairs when i'm in bed and drops infront of me! I have to throw it back down the stairs for him to bring back up! (Not so much for at 4am!)

I'm very impressed but also shocked at how many times in a row he does it!

Re: Fetch?

I've never had a cat that would play fetch but a friend of mine's siamese is mad for it. As soon as you go to his house he picks up one of his soft toys and drops it at your feet, if you don't throw it straight away, he picks it back up then drops it again and starts nudging you. He's worse than a dog

He never seems to get tired of it either, he'll fetch and retrieve literally for hour on end. I've found the best way of getting some peace is to throw it somewhere completely inaccessible, he'll then spend ages trying to work out how to get it which eventually he almost always does

I throw Shadows toy mouse up in the air and he jumps up about 3 feet and catches it in his mouth Then he runs away with it so I have to fetch it

Re: Fetch?

Both my boys play fetch. Bloo learnt at 4 months with his beloved PetStages Catnip Mouse (his fav toy until 2 weeks ago) when I threw it for him and he picked it up in his mouth. I said 'bring it back' as a joke, and he certainly shocked me when he did! Freckle didn't show any interest for ages, until we threw a skinnezzz dog toy for him. He now loves the game Nothing makes me laugh as hard as watching Freckle try to negotiate stairs while toting a furry toy longer than he is!

I recently got some bouncy balls and some trixie nub balls for them and I've had to hide them because I can't sleep at night with Bloo dropping them on me and whining and pushing them into my hand. With Bloo, because his toys are small I insist he puts them in my hand if he wants me to throw them

Re: Fetch?

Gwennie loves to play fetch also with the sponge balls. The problem is now, the dogs love the balls too, but not to fetch. So, if I throw one, she goes after it, they get there first, and then they steal it and rip it into little sponge pieces and she gets sad and gives up.
