Question New Kitty Older Kitty Help

Hi Everyone

In April, I became a proud cat owner for the first time in my life. I fell in love with a cute little persian kitten who I named Mister. He's been the love of my life and my "little guy" who keeps me company while I work from home.
On Thursday, I saw an ad for a female persian. Thinking that Mister needed a friend who was not human, I contacted the person who was selling her and went over to see how the kitten responded to me.
Ah, again, I fell in love. Misty, as I have named her, is so loving. She, like Mister, follows my husband and I around the house and likes to be wherever we are...just like my little guy.
In my excitement of this new kitten, I didn't research and take time to introduce Mister to Misty. Though the first day he was extremely curious about her and she wanted nothing to do with him, they are, now, inseparable. They cuddle all the time and when Mister gets up to go to his room or downstairs, Misty is quick to follow her older "brother".
I am posting because Mister is less playful with my husband and I, now. We are not sure why or if he will return to his normal self.
Mister is 4 months old, Misty will be 3 months July 27th.
Is he depressed? Does anyone have any advice they can share on how I can get my Mister back?
He's still a huge cuddler and, even as I am typing this out, he is laying next to me on the couch, Misty on my other side, both purring away.

Many thanks in advance!
Christy Dee

Re: New Kitty Older Kitty Help

I posted a similar question a few weeks ago but didn't really get much of a reply but I can report that the last few days things are getting back to normal so maybe it just takes a little bit of time

Too grown up to play????

Re: New Kitty Older Kitty Help

How long have you had Mister? Just trying to work out ages if he is only 4 months old now and you have had him since April How old was he when you got him?

This can make a big difference with cats and their socialisation, as persians are a slow maturing breed. Most persian breeders do not let their cats go until 3 months old.

As Mister now has a cat friend to play with he will require less attention for you, especially as she is new to him. Cats want cat attention more than human, he may come back to being how he was with you before, but he sounds like hes having more fun with Misty!
