She was neutered soon after i got her from being a kitten. she's just a normal moggy who doesnt like going outside guess

Saikou, where can i get the "urine off" that you speak of please?

thanks :-)
I think she might be confused? If she is out all day, and presumably weeing outside, does she realise she is supposed to use the rtay over night? Has she ever used the tray successfully?

Going back to basics and penning with a tray can work. Try collecting a bit of her wee before you clean up, [tip some litter on to soak it up] and put it in the tray so that it has her scent in it.

Re: HELP!! Urgent advice required!!

I had a tray for her for about 2 years then decided to get rid of it all together. I know loads of other people with cats that havent used a tray for years so why cant she just go outside like them?!! its so frustrating...

I really dont want to get another litter tray, there are plenty of gardens etc outside for her to use....

have anyone used any cat repellent tricks?? i know lemon and white pepper are meant to work...?

thanks
Lottie

When the tray was in the house, did you have the problem then ?
She might feel safe with a tray, why don't you want to use one, it would be much better than her toileting all over the house would'nt it ?
Have you thought as well, that people might not want your cats messing in their gardens ? They could have cat repellent stuff about, which might explain why your cat waits til she gets indoors....just a thought

But she IS going outside, and then you are bringing her in at night where she can't get outside? I'm a bit confused now, have I got it right? Does she have a catflap to go back out at night?
If not, then if you are serious about her being clean you will have to re tray train her. To be fair to her, she did learn and used it, then you put her out, now you want her to use it again, and the behaviour of inappropriate weeing has obviously been going on a long time. I don't think you are going to find a magic cure all that works instantly.

Sometimes you do have to have more than one tray , it really depends on the cats, they are not all the same. If you have not seen her use it in four yrs though, she obviously doesn't understand what you want.

Hang on do you have a litter tray at all????

If not then are you locking her inside and expecting her to just hold it all night?

afraid to say it doesn't work like that hun - she isn't a dog, she's a cat and cats won't tell you when they need to go and will just go x

Tray is needed if you're keeping her in of a night time x

Let us know how you get on x

I think that's a very unreasonable expectation.... do you not have to go ever during the night? Before bed? That's 9 hrs you are expecting her to be able to hold it. I'm not one bit surprised you are having to clean up, I just can't understand why you would prefer to keep cleaning messes off your floor rather than empty a tray.

Re: HELP!! Urgent advice required!!

perhaps a cat flap might be a good investment then she can go out at night if she needs to. Mine lets me know if he needs to go out but I wouldn't expect him to wait until I got up the next day. I don't mind getting up at 4 ot 5 to let him out and he's very good about letting me know.

Re: HELP!! Urgent advice required!!

Sorry to say but of course you're having problems keeping her in all night with no tray. She can't be expected to hold it! Please invest in a cat tray or a catflap, don't blame her for this learned behaviour, she had no choice!
