Feeding Kittens
Hi
Okay so im pickingmy kittens up on Friday and need to get them some kitten food. Anyone know what is the best, most nutricious kitten food? Also ive heard I need to feed them both 4-5 times daily. So does this mean split 1 sachet of food into 4 small meals each? (so I would be using 2 sachets between them both a day) Im thinking of buying them biscuits to leave out in the day so they can eat when they want to and also kitten milk out in the day for them. I will also make sure there is fresh water for them in the day as well. Am I about right in this sort of meal plan? Should I leave milk/biscuits out in the day for them or will they over eat? Argh help anyone! ![]() |

Then I would gradually start mixing together new food with old food. I personally feed Animonda carny and bozita pates from zooplus.com (though I am stopping the Bozita and switching to some brands from Germany (macs, petnature, grantapet and catz fine food, which you can order through different sites but its not quite as easy as zooplus.com) Grau is also a very good food from zooplus, and Smilla is also good. Really with kittens it is feeding them what they want to eat. If they want to eat 3 sachets, thats fine, but if they can easily put away 5, let them. They wont get overweight. Kittens burn off their food very easily, and need the extra to be growing. My kittens are getting towards a year and are already beginning to self regulate with their food and eating less.

Re: Feeding Kittens
Hey Gemma, congrats on your kittens.
For the types of food you can pick up in the UK and why some of them are better than others (I have only recently introduced Gloworm Mushroom to the finer foods from Germany as she like you came on to this forum struggling with the different brands) see here: A-Z of wet food for cats Some more info why these foods from online shops tend to be better than the stuff from supermarkets see here: Feeding cats for beginners (and more seasoned cat owners alike) This should give you enough ammunition to make some informed choices! ![]() |

It all depends on the cat, but a kittens food should not be limited. This may result in a bit of waste until you get to grips ore with what your kittens want.

Re: Feeding Kittens
Should be good as long as you switch them over slowly from whatever they have been on previously
