Smile Flea products

Hi everyone, I've never posted much in the cat section before as I've always normally been in dog chat, but I needed to ask a quick question about flea products, hope you don't mind!

My mum normally deals with the cats flea treatment, but as she's been busy this week with work an things, she's asked me to sort it out. So either order some from the Internet or drop into the vets to get some.

As I normally do the dogs treatment I'm not 100% on what sort of cat products are good quality? I normally use frontline for the dogs, is this product also good for the cats? As I've noticed they have a product for cats too.

Or are there any other good quality flea treatments I can get for a similar price? I'm not looking to spend Loads, but obviously as much as I have to for a decent product.

Any recommendations and links would be really really helpful! Thanks

Re: Flea products

You can get normal frontline without a prescription, tis good enough. But yes make sure you get the cat version. Anything containing just fipronil as the active ingredient (which is what's in frontline) you should be able to get online without a prescription, one that comes to mind is Efipro.

If you want Frontline Combo which does the environment too, or one that does roundworms and ear mites too such as Stronghold or Advocate, you'll need a prescription from the vet.

Sorry i've not got any links, don't get mine online

Re: Flea products

Fiproline is a little cheaper (normally as it comes in smaller pack sizes) and this is sold at Pets at Home.

It's got fipronil as the active ingredient and if you have 2 cats works out cheaper than having to get a box of 3 Frontline. Unless you want the spare of course .

Re: Flea products

hi, i live in the southwest where it's well known that flea's are now immune to frontline, i was using it for years, and had a ragdoll cat that didn't even go out and he was pickled with flea's, they now have brought out a stronger (and more expensive) version, but after chatting to the vet i changed to stronghold, ive used it for a year now and it's brilliant, not seen a single flea, AND it stop's them from getting ear mites, and different types of worm's, it's about the same price as front line, i just ran out and i buy a year's worth from the vet, i got it on special last time but they wanted £80 this time, so after going on line ive just brought a year's worth with postage for £58. well worth it!
