Adopting a third cat?

My husband is going to be so angry with me when he comes home

I've already sent an email to a lady who is looking to rehome her boy. He's a choc silver ocicat, just like my boy Freckle, and as soon as I saw him I couldn't help but contact her. I did at least make sure to ask if she had been in touch with the breeder.

The poor little guy is on Gumtree! And he's only a few months younger than my boys...

What do you think?

Re: Adopting a third cat?

I think having a baby is a pretty lame excuse to re home a pet

But, I'm sure the home and attention you could give him would be best for him.

Show your husband the picture first

Re: Adopting a third cat?

I've never understood why being pregnant means you can't look after a cat - I had two when I was pregnant the first time and second time, by the time I was pregnant with the third was didn't have any cats (having lost the other two) but within days of giving birth we had two kittens, I decided to give birth first so I could give the kits a little attention and not leave them to go into hospital. All that I had to have help with was hubby doing the litter trays. I have three now and looking at a fourth = wouldn't swap them.

He looks gorgeous and two isn't really any harder work than 3 - they all have their own personalities. Smile sweetly at hubby and say 'I've been a bit naughty' - works for me every time.

Re: Adopting a third cat?

Yes I'm not pleased with the reasoning behind rehoming the cat, and will be making sure that the breeder is well aware of the situation etc regardless of whether or not he comes to live with us. I also tend to think that asking for money is a bit cheeky, although not asking has it's own set of problems.
The only thing I was pleased about is that at least she was looking for a home with experience with the breed...

Husband will not be easy to persuade. I've been wanting to add two girl kittens for months, and he will *consider* it next year based on our accommodation. I suspect that with three, there is zero chance of that happening, but I couldn't ignore the poor little guy.

With us he will have everything except the ability to roam outside. If I don't take him in, then I'll do everything I can to make sure that the owner is in touch with the club and he gets a proper home.
