Re: Where did you get your cat/cats? And why did you choose them?

I got Charlie from a local cat rescue. I went round to one of the volunteers houses and she brought charlie out. He had been given to her recently by his previous owner as apparently the bf had told her to get rid of him. He had been kicked out of the house and was living in the shed. As soon as i saw him it was love at first sight lol, he was just such a gorgeous looking cat..he was rubbing up against me handbag. Picked him up a few days later

we as a family have had many cats over the years. Tabby was from a family friend whose cat gave birth unexpectedly thats around 15 years ago though now. Tom was a rescue, Luna was from another friend whose cat got pregnant unexpectedly.

Generally speaking if I wasnt going for a pedigree in the future I would go for a rescue moggy xxxx

Lola was a cat we rescued from somebody who we had reports that she was neglecting her, she's been here since and won't be going anywhere else unless we move and she will be coming with us

Pixie belonged to some people who live at the other side of camp from us and she was unwanted so we took her in

Re: Where did you get your cat/cats? And why did you choose them?

We got our first from a local center. As we went into the shelter he jumped to head height, stuck all 4 legs through the chicken wire with claws out slashing wildly and was hissing and purring together. He was about 1 year old, and had been taken from his mother at about 4 weeks and then badly abused so he has some issues. I went into the pen to see him, and he clawed my leg then clung to the bottom of my shoe biting madly - I had to shake him off. They didn't think he was rehomeable, but we fell for his craziness and took him!

The second was unplanned - the same center phoned us about 6 months later and said "I hear you're willing to take evil cats!" She was tiny and black and had been badly abused too. She had been rehomed twice before but both failed as they claimed she was feral! Went to visit and again fell in love with her, luckily so did the other cat and they began eating from the same bowl immediately!

We had a difficult few years and a steep learning curve given our total lack of expertise. There were sleepless nights from the yowling, the constant attacks and bite and scratch marks (even some that left scars) but we persevered. Rescue cats have so much personality due to their experiences, and its so rewarding to see them start to trust you and grow. Stick at it if you have a difficult cat - ours couldn't have been worse, and we now have two very happy and very characterful softy lap cats!

Bess and Banjo- they were 3rd generation strays!! Although I took on their mum and they were born on the sofa!!)
Eric, Blossom and Tootsie- all came from the same bad breeder (I was extremely niaeve and uninformed and didnt realiese that a good breeder wouldnt have over 50 cats running loose and practically no furniture. Sounds dumb...but I was!!)
Gracie- another stray baby from a friend.

Re: Where did you get your cat/cats? And why did you choose them?

When I was at college, the cats protection braught in strays to keep in our catteries when they were full. One stray was found under a shed with 4 beautiful little kittens. 3 Tortishell girls and 1 ginger tabby boy.

I actually had my eye on the ginger boy, someone else in my class and one of the lecturers wanted Kira, when I went to the ladies house that the kittens were taken too, I saw Kira and she was just so confident and gorgeous, she just lay on my lap happily purring away. The lady told me no one had actually reserved her and if I wanted too then I had first pick

She exactly the same now, happily jumps on anyones lap purring away to get attention (and it works). I even know people who really aren't cat people but can't say no to her pretty little face haha
