Pet friendly weedkiller

I have my front garden slabbed and back garden gravelled so you can't really pull up weeds easily.

I have used weed killer in the past as no cats use my back garden but one of the neighbours tortie's has started sitting in my front garden. I don't want to use weed killer there and hurt her so any recommendations of anything that is especially effective.

I've had salt recommended to me so far but I'd be a bit worried about the cat ingesting any of the salt. I've tried hot water but that doesn't seem very effective - stupid things are still alive.

PS I'm utterly crap at and hate any kind of gardening so minimal effort is fantastic. I just want to kill them and get rid.

Re: Pet friendly weedkiller

have a word with the neighbour, say you want to use the poison but not hurt kitty - so if they can keep her in for 24 hours you can then use most weedkillers - they are only dangerous until dry. Just read the instructions.

we use Round-Up

Speaking to neighbour is not an option unfortunately.

Re: Pet friendly weedkiller

If you read the instructions most say animals are save with this product once the weedkiller has dried. So if you spray when she is not around on a carm warm day it could be dry in 10-15 mins and if she turns you should be able to deter her for 15 mins until dry.

Re: Pet friendly weedkiller

Someone recently told me white vinegar diluted slightly with a little water will kill the weeds - though you garden may smell like a chippy!

I'd rather not risk it. I don't want to be seen chasing this cat away.

ooh vinegar could be an option.

Whats worse a weedy path or a path that smells like chip shops?
