Re: Can't decide...

i was going to say norwegian forest cats, but i dont think they would be suited to a indoor life completely. i have three but they have the run of a large pen, so they have the choice of indoor and outdoor

Re: Can't decide...

My boss has both a Norwegian and a Maine Coon and both boys are neutered and totally indoor cats, very happy ones too SO I think in the right environment then they are suitable. I adore her Maine Coon and have been quite fascinated by them for years.

I am shocked at the totally HUGE Siberian!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PAWS!! WOW!

Kelly-Joy that would have been lovely but I sadly have to wait until after Christmas as I am not in my new home yet, I want to get any interfering stuff out of the way so that I can properly spend time with my new friend

I've contacted the Maine Coon rescue and they've sent me some details and not dismissed me as a possible home. yey! I am a bit nervous at the prospect of a rescue however, I think mainly because I've seen Eroswoof's story about Jasper on here. I know that in my current situation I couldn't KNOWINGLY take on an animal like that. She's amazing to have done so. Obviously any cat I take on will be insured and I'll do everything I can should it become ill but I'd be scared to take on anything so HUGE as an unwell cat as I feel it would currently be unfair (to it not me)... mean though that may sound

I'd love to explore more rescue options I think, even with a slight fear. My favourite cat ever (lost him at 15years) was an RSPCA rescue and a moggy and lived a very good and happy life with no illness apart from a wrenched claw, until he was pts due to a growth on his spleen.

I adore cats who like to cuddle and sit as well as have a good play and chase. I'm really appreciative of everyones input as I think it'll help in the long run!

Re: Can't decide...

A NFC can be indoor.

Honestly I do not see a huge difefrence between being indoor with walls, and being indoor with access to a pen. Its just like another room, its hardly 'outdoor' to me in the true sense...

Re: Can't decide...

One day I'd love to have that sort of "outdoor" space, but for now its just the indoor. I did make another thread about walking on harnesses, something I've never done, does anyone have any views on that?? I'm not sure if I'm keen on it but if the cat needs it then I'll try it/do it for their sake!

No cats need harness walks.

Re: Can't decide...

My outdoor boys never had any, but I've heard of people doing it. I'm glad you've said that as I can't stand the idea of a cat on a harness... it just doesn't seem right somehow, can't see any of the cats I've ever had putting up with it. I shall invest in some fab toys (the cats at my parents don't have any as the terrier eats them so they make do with trees, leaves, twigs, grass, invisible creatures and flies!?? There's no accounting for taste. I'll enjoy the shopping!) and as you suggested a couple of good scratch/play/sleep trees Should keep us both occupied for a while :P ... hurry up Christmas! well... January, as no pet should really be for Christmas. Even though I have got 2 weeks off, but I'm away in Oct and for Christmas.. hence the waiting. I'm so fussy about the animals I look after, had to rabbit-sit babies last weekend and syringe feed them, was up at 5am 3 mornings in a row to check on them and feed them. Tiring but worth it
