Question The new kitten

Tomorrow I am going to get a new kitten. I am experienced with cats, live down a silent road and have a big, safe garden. I am looking forward to the kitten, but just want some tips..... So
Does anyone have tips how to settle a kitten into a new surrounding and new Life?:

Thanks for your help
Sophie

Re: The new kitten

Well, firstly I hope the kitten is at least 12 weeks old and vaccinated

As for your questions, it sounds like you are going to be letting your cat outside eventually. You should wait until they are around a year old and neutered (neutered before 6 months) before you let them outside to allow them to be big enough to look after themselves.

As for settling them in, really just let them do what they want, don't stop them hiding etc. Make sure they know where there food and water and litter are and just let them get used to the place at their own pace

Smile Re: The new kitten

before - kitten proof where poss - little gaps aroung cooker & stuff

settle it in one room first with everything there - litter etc, let it have a sniff around with you in background for a bit. intro the litter tray soon after that
it may be nervous at first

get same litter & food as current place, change it slowly if its not to your liking

theres a good sticky about getting a kitten with lots of tips above this post

enjoy it, dont expect sleep(!) and take lots of pics!
