Hooded Litter Trays

Hi All,

Im a new cat owner! we pick up our baby next weekend..

however, im after a bit of advise on hooded cat litter trays..

i like this one at petsathome, but personally i think its a little expensive! can you guys recommend anything thats simular? or the same product at a better price?

Sieving Hooded Cat Litter Tray by Ferplast-Litter trays-Pets at Home: Buy Pet Supplies from our Online UK Pet Shop

Or are they pants and i should just stick or a regular tray?

thanks!

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

I have their standard version without doors & it costs £12.99 perfectly good.
It does depend on the size of your cat though
Mine are bengals.

I prefer not to have a flap or take it off as I think the smells get trapped inside & it would be pretty unpleasant for the cat trying to go.....

The fact that the smells are released without a door alert you that you need to empty the tray too!

Good luck with whatever one you choose!

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

it was the smell i was kinda trying to get rid off..

but i would probably take the flap/hood off at first until she gets used to going in there..

i just dont know what to do? should i just stick with a normal tray? is the smell THAT bad?

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

I like the covered tray because although you can smell it, you cant see it happening!

No the smell goes really quickly, it's just the initial waft.

If you were out & came home you wouldn't think - what on earths that smell

You just need to make sure you clean it out morning & night. Because it's hooded you don't get the visual reminder.

I don't use open trays as one of my girls hangs her bum over the edge!

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

I use two hooded trays for my 4 cats and they work a treat. With regards to the smell - I think it partly depends on what you feed them. My cats don't get meat as two of them get tummy problems (and then they are very stinky ) Mine get Royal Canin and they don't smell too bad at all. I take out all poops and wees first thing in the morning and last thing at night and you really can't smell them at all

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

She looks about the same size as some of my cats.

I've also got a hooded tray from Argos it has a door which you can remove & filters in the top to help with smells I think it was around £12.99 It's really robust & easy to use/keep clean.

I like Izzy - your very lucky!
