Re: Hooded Litter Trays

Is it James Wellbeloved?

Dried food will definately help with the smell

Argos one will be fine - My male cat Sunny uses it no problem, it has slightly more head room too than other hooded trays I've seen for that price.

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

Yep.. thats the stuff, James Wellbeloved..

Though alot of people ive spoken to (and i noticed it when at the checkout today) seem to use Tesco premium cat food? is that stuff anygood?

For £12.99 you cant really go wrong i dont think! i will take the hood/flap off at first so she knows what/where it is, and go from there

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

Sounds like a good plan with the litter tray.

I've never used Tesco P Food but I imagine it can't be too bad, have a look at the ingredients.

At first carry on feeding the same food as has been fed, I wouldn't change for at least 2 weeks & then gradually mix in the new food until she is only eating the new food.

Your cat (Izzy) will have a lot of new things to cope with so it's best to try & keep the food & litter the same as she is used to until she settles in.

Good luck I'm getting quite excited for you!

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

It's so expensive because it has a seive action. The normal hooded ones are not that much.

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

are the sieving ones any good? from looking at it in the shop (and there were no instructions) it looks like the poop will just sit on the plastic top (with holes in it)

or do you put the little stuff ontop of that tray with the holes? or under it?

was very confusing!

but is it worth spending the extra money for? i dont mind picking out the poop from in the tray.

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

I bought the argos hooded litter tray yesterday, and your right, seems a good size and pretty solid considering its argos and only £13! thanks for you advise

Ive heard you can get litter lining bags that you can put in to make cleaning out the tray easier.. do you know of any that fit? or shall i just put some newspaper down in the bottom?

Re: Hooded Litter Trays

If you go to a good sized pet shop they should stock tray liners in different sizes. You can buy stuff there to clean the tray with safely too. Basic rule is don't use disinfectants that make the water cloudy as they are toxic to cats. Well diluted bleach is fine [rinsed really well afterwards] or you can get sprays like clean&safe which kill bacteria and viruses that might lurk in the tray.
Scooping every day and a good cleaning once a week will keep nasty smells at bay and keep the tray nice for your kitty

Post Re: Hooded Litter Trays

I have a 8 month cat who uses a ordinary open top littertray but have recently got a puppy, who eats the litter, so am looking for a hooded litter tray. So far i have found this oneBill' Cat Toilet Litter Tray With Hood Flap & Filter: TR40162 The Cat Pet Shop but would be interested in knowing more about the Argos one.
