Hi,
I'm new to this forum and just wondered if anyone could give me some peace of mind! My partner and I brought a kitten home way back in February. Neither of us had ever had a cat before so we were a little nervous to begin with, but in hindsight we needn't have been - she is absolutely awesome and everything we were worried about hasn't actually happened (she's only ever had two 'accidents' outside of her litter box, she's never scratched anything but her post, and she has developed into a really sociable indoor-cat). My partner and I are both doing our MA's this year and therefore we've been at home a lot, which is one of the reasons why we decided to get a kitten when we did. However, it won't be long now till we've finished our studies and (hopefully) have full-time jobs so we've begun to wonder whether it wouldn't be a good idea to get another kitten to keep our current one company. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we went to see a little kitten last week who is adorable - she was born with weak hind legs and occasionally stumbles so the RSPCA want her to be an indoor-only cat, which suits us perfectly - and needless to say we decided we wanted to give her home. So we're currently waiting for a home check and we're just wondering what the procedure is? For some reason, the whole idea of a home check is kinda nerve-wracking! Thanks! |

Re: RSPCA House Check
Hey there. I had a home check back in January and a volunteer comes along and will ask to see where your new baby will sleep, eat, go to the toilet etc. I live on a main road but I was getting a house cat so it did not matter. The volunteer was really nice - the frustrating thing was I had to wait 3 weeks for them to come so I had to wait ages for my boy! Sadly after 5 short month he got sick and had to be put to sleep but he was the best cat ever!
Good luck xx |

Re: RSPCA House Check
Thanks for the replies, sounds like there isn't too much to worry about. Sure hope we don't have to wait three weeks though! The center said they'd get in touch within the next week so fingers crossed.

Re: RSPCA House Check
Also don't panic if they come in and point out literally everything which could potentially kill a cat (which is literally everything) they will still pass you unless you have a book of 'cooking with cats' recipes on your shelf :P
