i honestly thought i'd found my kitten!

I was on my daily walkaround looking for my kitten. And today, i honestly thought i'd found him.
Do you ever look so hard that you totally lose sight of what your actually looking at?

Well this aft, i was walking down a street near where i live. I just happened to glance round and saw what i thought was my kitten. When it saw me it jumped up and was pawing the window!
So i'd be forgiven at thinking it was him.

i banged on the door and when she answered the kitten came running upto me, i thought christmas had come early! I asked where she got the cat, and if it was hers and she said she didn't know where it came from, as it was her house mates.
The kitten was the absolute double of mine!
It hadn't dawned on me that the kitten had 1 eye and was female!
So i sat in some students front room, probably looking like some maniac demanding to talk to the cats owner.
The poor lass came home early, pointed out everything that was different, and showed me pictures of when she first got her, 6 weeks earlier!!

Well needless to say i was very red faced, but she understood and didnt call the police! So no harm done.
But i honetly thought i'd found him.
What are the chances i'll get him back after all this time?

I'm really sorry, have you tried putting posters up and all the vets within a ten mile radius? Is he chipped?

Re: i honestly thought i'd found my kitten!

I would have done exactly the same as you, and I think the girl probably would have too, so everyone would be understanding.

I am so sorry he is still not with you, but I also think he is being looked after by someone who just doesn't know he is yours. Have you tried calling the RSPCA, CP and vets again? They may have further info and just been too busy to get back to you. Also I was thinking, anyone taking him in may have had him checked over at the Vets for a microchip/check up. The vets may remember him.

Are you trying not so local centres too?

Bloody builders!!!

Tiddles, this should be posted in the Breeding section where you may get the assistance you require.

Re: i honestly thought i'd found my kitten!

copy and paste you post, click out of this section 'cat chat' and go to cat forums, then in to the section 'cat breeding' and post again as a new post so people can see your question.

It will be lost and un-read in the middle of someone elses thread on finding her kitten,

Re: i honestly thought i'd found my kitten!

When I was a kid our cat wandered off one day and it must have been 6 months before I bumped into him by accident and coached him back home.
He was only a few hundred yards away and no doubt enjoying himself.
Don't lose hope just yet especially given he is so small as somebody may have taken him in for safety. Good luck.

Re: i honestly thought i'd found my kitten!

I agree with the others. There's a very good chance your kitten is being looked after by someone in the close vicinity and I would tend to concentrate my efforts here. I presume you still have posters up ( with photographs ) but if not I'd replensish them.

Further door to door enquiries may lead to something as well.
