Re: new petition started

What are you going to do with the petition? How are you going to take it forward?

If you are seriously going to take it to the powers that be, can I suggest you get your petition text spellchecked and edited? It doesn't look very professional to have badly-spelled text with no punctuation!

I'll do it if you like.

Re: new petition started

well ive told my local councilor about this petition hes glad that am doing one to be honest so ive told him once ive aquired at least 500 signatures i will forward this on to him personaly aswell as sending a copy to no 10 and if the governments direct gov website is up and running ill set the online gov petition up and save and print all the sigs ive aquired on my 2 other petitions and put them together with the official petition so ill take it from there i feel strongly about this matter as ive lost my cat to a idiot using one of these i just dont want others to suffer they way i am as ive said before enoughs enough now time to take a stand and either ban or change the laws with owning this weapon either get it licensed and restricted to firering ranges or clubs and to be illigeal to be used on housing estates and against animals pets

I've even had my car windscreen shot with an air gun whilst I was driving, not that the Police were interested but that's another story.

Duely signed with best wishes.
I have to dis-agree with the above statement, there are 100's of people out there that are members of gun clubs and regularly go along on weekends and evenings to a shooting range , ive been the holder of a shotgun permit since i was 17 and had many guns including airguns, its not the guns that are dangerous its the bloody idiots that use them . i do agree 100% that the laws regarding firearms are too soft and i would like to see the age raised , all gun holders to have a valid insurance and a police inspection at every home registered as they currently do with shotgun applications, and before you can legally purchase am airgun you have to produce the said certificates.Shooting is and can be a very enjoyable sport providing its carried out correctly, If a person wishes to shoot then go along to a proper authorised gun club there are many throughout the UK and youngsters can be taught correctly how to use there guns. many yrs ago airguns were not as powerfull as they are today , an airgun nowdays is quite capable of killing a person, the legal requirment for an airgun is to be no more than 12ft lbs PSI but is so very easy to increase the power of some guns so that the output can reach almost 20 ftlbs PSI almost twice as powerfull as legally allowed. I have signed your petition as i do agree there should be tighter regulation in the purchase and owning of an airgun. and im afraid if a person shot one of my pets then im the one that would end up in the courts.. good luck with this petition and best wishes..........Chris

Re: new petition started

No worries Chris.
Btw I was given an air rifle as a 9 year old (yeah, I know, irresponsible uncle!), it was used in open areas and certainly not to pick off peoples pets.
Mine was only a .177 and as you say the modern ones are more powerful:
