Pedigree Cat *help*

My sister has just had a BSH cat, she is 3.5years old and came with a pedigree certificate which stated 4 generations, she didn't get the pink slip though and she has spoken to the breeder who said she can send it her but most people don't bother with it as the cat wouldn't be showed or used for breeding. Would this matter if she didn't have the pink slip? the back of the pedigree certificate states the owner as my sister and has been signed by the breeder.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

How do you mean, matter?

She has a BSH and has her pedigree and lineage. It all sounds pretty legit to me.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

Just because she doesn't have the pink slip, somebody told her that she needs that aswell.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

Need for what? Is she wanting to show or breed her?

If the breeder said he'll send her it, why doesnt she just get him to send her it if shes worried? A lot of breeders withhold that info and the pedigree until proof of neuter is recieved.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

No, she is just going to be a pet. I told her to contact the breeder if she wants it which she did, and she said she only needs it if she is planning on breeding or showing, I think she got concerned (not sure why) and I told her i'd double check on here. Thanks hun x

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

He certainly can't come and nick it if thats what she is thinking Ive got all my paperwork stashed somewhere, I have no idea where it is tbh. I only have the pedigrees pinned up as they have cute kitten pics of them and so I can remember their birthdays :P lol

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

Sounds like the breeder hasn't registered them so doesn't have the pink slip to send (naughty naughty) - otherwise why not send it - it is proof that the cat is registered with the GCCF - anyone can make a 4 generation pedigree really and pretend they have registered the cat. Your friend doesn't NEED the pink slip but without she can't change the ownership of the cat (I think) but I would want it just to have it for proof. It's only the cost of a stamp and an envelop so why not?!

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

I would want the pink slip too, so you know that they are what the breeder says, anyonw can produce a 4 generation pedigree. She isnt being unreasonable asking for it, she paid for a pedigree cat so should be able to have the proof.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

Also, if ownership has been transferred then the slip would have been sent your sister by the GCCF anyway so something sounds off.

Re: Pedigree Cat *help*

I agree that the new owner doesn't actually need the pink slip but if I had bought a pedigree I'd like to have it anyway, even if I didn't plan on breeding/showing. It's the only thing which ties the cat to the pedigree provided; anyone can produce a pedigree but it doesn't necessarily relate to the cat and nor does it necessarily prove that the person selling the cat actually bred it.
