Scary moment with Charlie yesterday

Charlie was lying fast asleep on the sofa, he was obviously dreaming because his face was twitching and his paws were goin like the clappers. Anyway about 5 mins or so later i tried to wake him up and he wasnt responding. Normally i only have to stroke him and he stirs but this time nothing. Then i tried to lift him up and he was very limp and lifeless. I started to panic then and thought Omg...after about a minute he seemed to come around. I rattled his fav treats to see if he would respond and he just sat up all alert and threw himself off the sofa to get some treats.

Has this ever happened with any of your cats before because it actually frightened me at the time. Hes absoloutely fine and was playing about as normal later.

Re: Scary moment with Charlie yesterday

yeah only the other day actually! was alseep on the sofa and I just happened to wake up so reached out and stroked her, nothing (she normally meows and wakes up) so did it again, nothing, so I jumped up and was tapping her saying her name over and over feeling for heart beat I seriously thought she had died no movement what so ever

Then I went to pick her up and she woke up stretched and was like 'what for god sake im in a deep sleep!!'

went to the vets anyway who said she was perfect, just a deep sleep, Elvis has done it before to, scares me!!

Re: Scary moment with Charlie yesterday

Not cats obviously but Buster and Leo love to do that to me and then look so offended when I wake them up

Yeh thats exactly what Charlie was like, he normally meows too. I think normally he seems to be a light sleeper and wakes up at the drop of a hat, only this time he was dead to the world although not literally thank god.

Glad im not the only one whos had that then...thanks xx

Can you see if they're breathing? When I want to make sure my son Chico is still alive, I just watch for his little chest going up and down.

Re: Scary moment with Charlie yesterday

Our kittens must be weird as they never move or wake up when they're asleep and you stroke them! Maybe they are just really chilled out and/or lazy! The only way to get Dinah to move when she's asleep is to tickle her belly and then she'll roll on her back but still snooze. In fact the only time we've ever inadvertently woken them up when sleeping was when I accidentally dropped something.
