Can I take away a litterbox?

I have a cat, Cheeto who is 3 years old. She has 2 litterboxes in small house we live in. We have recently rented out a room upstairs which we use now as an office/second bedroom, which is one location where Cheeto has a litterbox. Since I will no longer be using that area of the house (its a floor in the house) I don't want Cheeto to have a litter box there. How should I go about introducing this change? Thoughts?

Re: Can I take away a litterbox?

I would start by slowly moving the litter tray out of that room towards the other litter tray. Once the two litter trays are next to each other take one away. This means your cat has time to get used to just toileting in one place rather than two. Or if you want to keep both just slowly move the 2nd tray to where you want it to go.
