Sophie's Making Progress

Sophie is our young adult cat, who came to us from the RSPCA in April. She's a lovely girl, and very friendly, but something in her past has made her very scared of jumping onto people's laps - and she's the only cat I've ever met who never set a paw on the bed..... until this morning! She jumped up beside me as I lay in bed, and teetered on the edge for about thirty seconds before jumping down. Then later, when I was sitting on the bed getting dressed, she jumped up again - and this time she stayed for about five minutes, had a good old finger scratch around her ears, and even lay down so I could tickle her tummy!!

We've crossed the Rubicon, I think. I shall probably be cursing the ginger fluff in the bed from now on.

Re: Sophie's Making Progress

Ten days later.....

I rolled over in bed this morning as I woke up, and heard Sophie trill.... 'Morning, Sophie' I grunted. She's usually asleep on the floor under the radiator. OH lying next to me did a double take, and pushed himself up on one elbow......

'Don't make any sudden moves' he said.... and when I cautiously looked down the bed I saw Sophie sprawled out on top of the duvet between our feet.

Never thought I'd see the day my OH was pleased to see a cat asleep on the bed!
