Re: Sure Flap help please xxxx

just managed to get Tilly into the cat carrier and she passed through the cat flap, but the little light is still flashing. does that mean that it still hasn't registered her?????

This is so stressful

Re: Sure Flap help please xxxx

For what it's worth, we have a Sureflap and although it's true that it will allow any cat to go out as the lock only stops strange cats coming in, you will know if they are registered even if they are going out as once their head gets far enough out to be within scanning range it will activate the lock anyway (since the flap doesn't know whether they are coming or going iyswim).

Yes I just meant in response to another suggestion that you could test it out by letting them go out through it, and was trying to say that this wouldn't show they were registered. (unless you were listening out for the click)

I have two cats and it would have been useful if it read the chip on the way out as it would allow you to just let one of them out (ie one of mine is much more confident going out so I could have just registered him)

Yes, had a range tester through the post today. Had various results from that, am going to do a factory reset and try again. Looks like we may have to have the flap removed to test again, as at the moment it is falling just a little short of the range that is recommended

The instructions say that anything less than 24cm needs to have th flap removed and then repeat the test. Ours came out just a few mm short of 24cm, but each time i did the test, it recorded a different range, anything from 21cm to almost 24cm

will keep you all posted

Success!!!!!!! just got Tilly through the flap and it's registered her chip, well at least it's made all the right noises etc

now just Sock to go, although he's seen Tilly being man handled so is being a bit elusive at the moment

All the time the red light is flashing, it is still in learning mode. Therefore once your cat/s have come through into your home, you can turn the learning mode off by pressing the buttons at the top of the flap.

Re: Sure Flap help please xxxx

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but am so happy to report that both Sock & Tilly have mastered the art of using the Sure Flap! So many of you offered great advice all of which i am forever grateful. It's been great that they now have the freedom to come and go as they please, and a great plus for us, they are no longer using the litter tray as they love the outdoors so much, they are leaving their smelly presents elsewhere!
Love the Sure Flap, would def recommend to others, and would advise, stick it out, it's worth it.
