Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

Mine is in and out every hour or so LOL he never strays far tbo and is more than happy to lie outside on the path or step close to the door esp as its open most of the time due to the weather - I worry if he goes out for more than 3hrs cos its just not like him Mind u I prefer that he comes back often cos then I know he is safe

Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

My 2 go out this time of year straight after breakfast (7am ish) but they are only in the garden, i can seee them through the windows, they both have their fav spots to lie in and they tend to stay there most of the day comng in every now and then to check on things, have a quick snack and out again. In winter they can usually be found in the neighbour's conservatory! it gets more sun than ours does!!

Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

When I'm home Charleecat spends half her time out and half her time inside.

She likes a snack and a cuddle but then is perfectly happy to find a shady spot for a snooze outside.

She always greets me when I come home from work, miaowing away as she dances along the garden path, obviously telling me what she's been up to during the day.

My neighbour's garden has very long grass so she likes to frolick around in that.

Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

Today Ginger has been outside since about 8:30 this morning & still outside now. Hasn't even looked inside the house since he went out. Has spent all day in his favourite spots in the garden.
If it's good weather & I'm off work, then he'll stay out, if not he'll be in the house until I get home. Then it's out the door, with a "you're home at last & I can now get out" look.
If it's raining or colder, he will be quite happy lying at the front door watching the world go by.

Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

I don't have an outdoor kitty (not completely true as Maisie goes into the gaden supervised)...but it's really nice to read a positive thread about them, think you outdoor cat owners should post more often I've only really read the usual (outdoor v indoor threads- which do get a hit tiresome) lol

Sounds like Scamp too. Although he does sometimes go and sleep elsewhere for a few hours and then saunters back to see us and check in

Re: How often do your outdoor cats check in at home

How often we see ours totally depends on the weather - and also on whether the neighbours have left a door/window open to allow access to the bed in their spare room apparently, or so my neighbour told me when I sat next to him on the train this morning! In winter they spend most of the day sleeping inside and just pop out for an hour or so at a time. When the weather is nice they are out more, sometimes for most of the day but they will occasionally look in if they think we are up to anything interesting! I actually do quite miss them in summer when we're not seeing much of them but it is nice to think that they are out having fun.

Holly2009 - I would gladly post about being an outdoor cat owner until you get fed up of it! We are all aware of the arguments about it but there is a lot of good stuff too I promise!
