how long will it take?

i have posted about getting a new kitten. unfortunately i went the complete wrong way of introducing her to my male cat. he just hisses and growls at her then goes out. he still comes home for food and cuddles but then he leaves. its like he is scared of her??

anyone know roughly how long this will go on? or how i can help him?

Re: how long will it take?

I can't give you an estimate as obviously all cats are different, He could be narked for months, he could get over it in a week.

Just make sure he has his own safe place in the home that he can return to so he realises that the new cat isnt a threat nor is she taking his home away.

Re: how long will it take?

he has his own room. but hes never in with the weather being nice. he always out. hes also very close to my mum (who lives 2 doors up) so he goes and has a snooze there. think im just worried. im new to all the cat stuff. its good hes still coming home for food and cuddles. yesterday and today he came in and looked at her without hissing. then after we had fed him he came through, hissed at her and left.
