Rex and his new harness

Because today is such a lovely day ive spent a few hours in the garden. So I thought I would give Rex a try with a harness and lead. I cant believe how quickly he got the hang of it.

Re: Rex and his new harness

He's a beautiful boy , seems really happy wearing it and has still maintained his "dignity".
I'm thinking about getting harnesses for my kitties what make did you buy and at what age is it ok to try them with it.

Re: Rex and his new harness

Great pictures - Rex looks very smart Is that the Ancol harness that slips over the head and is a bit like a figure of 8? I have one like that but Mai Tai isn't too keen on it going over her head.
I use harnesses on both of my girls and little Rosie is just getting used to hers. I use extending leads with them too so they have a longer reach to explore
Jeanierac - Mai Tai is almost 3 and has been used to harness since she was about 4 months old. Rosie is 5 months so only just starting with hers. You can harness train most cats and from any age.

Re: Rex and his new harness

Hi Jeanierec

I bought the harness last year for my other cat Vogue, It was just a cheap one as i didnt know how she would take to it. She did really well with it although Vogue led and I just seemed to follow.

I thought I would give Rex a go today hes just about a year old. He had a quick "I cant walk in this" and throw himself on the floor. It didnt take more than 5 mins and he was in the plants and wandering around the garden.

Again think I was the one that was being taken for a walk

cant remember what make it is but yes its the figure 8 kind, I just open it wide and slip it over their heads..no bother, then just adjust it simple

Re: Rex and his new harness

Thanks both of you.......I feel such a beginner even though we've had cats for 25 years never had either kittens or indoor cats and I just want to get it right and bring up loving, well loved ,well adjusted happy furries ( as opposed to furies which I wrote first and then corrected !! )
