Re: stud cat

Couldn't agree more. The stud owner is also going against the rules of the governing bodies.

Re: stud cat

I'm afraid I have to agree. If you wanted to breed why did'nt you get a registered girl, it would of made things much simpler.
Is the stud boy registered ?

Re: stud cat

Are you sure it's a good idea Saffy, as besides all the obvious concerns responsible peeps are having trouble finding "buyers"/homes for their kittens as the credit crunch is hitting all peeps hard,do you really want to risk your girl in such an unnecessary way with a boy who's slave has not gone about things in a good and morally decent way,to be stuck with a few mewing and demanding kittens that no-one with any understanding/knowledge of meezers will want to buy or will you give them away?

Re: stud cat

Is the Stud Owner making you have pre mating tests done on your girl? What if the stud is used with lots of girls not registered and could give your girl a disease? Think of her and not your selfish need for kittens. I guess your girls breeder won't care if you mate her as I guess she is breeding unreg cats too if you ain't got a pedigree etc.. Poor cat and poor kittens

Are you sure? The rules only say you must not accept queens on the non-active register (for which indeed there are penalties), they don't say anything about unregistered cats, as far as I can see, except in rule 3g which specifically permits stud owners to accept queens that are not registered with the GCCF (the assumption of course will be that they are registered with TICA or FB but it doesn't actually say that). And of course non-pedigrees have been used in the development of some breeds, were all those registered first?

Having said that, the chances of the OP finding an owner of a registered stud prepared to do it are minimal - the rules may allow it but fellow breeders will certainly disapprove of anyone doing it.

Liz

Its ok Liz, Kozy posted immediately afterwards to correct the statement saying that she had meant to say "on the inactive..".

You both raise a good point though.

Re: stud cat

You don't just need a pedigree, you need a registration certificate stating that she is on the active register (i.e. approved as suitable for breeding)

If she wasn't sold to you for breeding then I'm afraid you are not going to have much luck in finding a stud. You need to contact your cat's breeder to discuss things.
