Re: I hate my vets

I'm now on my 3rd vet in the town where I live and have finally found one which is brilliant!!! They are VERY low in price (£27 for a spay, £20 for a neuter & £10 to chip!!) and they could NOT be nicer!!!!!

The receptionists are delightful & sweet, the nurses are very caring and the vets are kind & knowledgeable.

Recently they have had a few locums in and I have been lucky & had no problems with them either although I know another PF member did earlier this week.

I have lost count of how many times I've been to see them since registering with them 3 months ago but have never had a problem at any time.

THEY'RE GREEEEAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!

Re: I hate my vets

My vets are just great, i couldnt want for a better one to be honest. I was recommended them by the cat rescue. Only bad thing about it is its a 20 min drive there. They are very cheap and the vet ive seen so far treated charlie like he was his pet too lol. Talked me through everything and made me feel very at ease as i was worried about my little boy. He was rather good looking too which was a bonus lol.

Re: I hate my vets

My vets are very expensive, they have a couple of surgeries and a posh hospital, but the service is good and very professional. Thank GOD I have pet insurance though. My young Cat -Kizzi, in photo here, was listless in March and seemed to have a sore tummy, I took her to vets, and she was hospitalised with 'suspected pancreaitis' The bill was £750. !! She was put on a drip, had some medication and tests, but NO operation, she was obeserved overnight, which stretched to 3 nights in hospital and that was the bill !!! The actualreason for her illness was never 100% as 'they lost a blood test' taken at the height of her illness - and were going to charge the £70 just for the blood test until I mentioned we never did get the results.
I paid the first £50 on the first visit, and after that the rest was all paid by Tescos insurance, which at £6.50 a month was well worth taking out!

Re: I hate my vets

We have had our vet for many years. He is a one man band out fit and is kind and thoughtful he also talks to the animals.
He is due to retire soon and am dreading having to look round for a vet that is as good as him.
The only down side to our vet is the emergency vet is the PDSA and when i had to use them it cost me £90 for the vet just to look in my cats mouth and check her heart beat.
My poor cat died shortly afterwards and I feel that I could never go there again.

Re: I hate my vets

I hated the vet I took Eric to. We went 3 times with in the first few months of having him for jabs and a leg injury and saw 3 different vets who all tried to sell me stuff! They told me that I was feeding him the wrong food and should buy their over priced Royal Canin and that Eric had worms when I had only wormed him a week before and I had checked his poop.

Because I was new to going to the vets I ended up paying £70 for his jabs and then found out I could have paid £99 for jabs for life at my local vets4pet where I take him now. When I got a quote on neutering and microchipping it was double what vets4pets charged.

All the vets I saw at the first place were rubbish. When I took Eric with a poorly leg that could possibley have been broken I got there to find they didn't have an x-ray machine even though I had explained the issue over the phone. They also said that she didn't know whether his leg was sprained or not, got a book out to look it up! She said he may even lose his leg. Luckily he had obviously just pulled it or something because after 3 days of limping it was absolutely fine.
