Hmmm hope that vets not spaying her!

Decided to try a different vet as mine seems to have lost a little enthusiasm with my animals now that they are rescues instead of pedigrees

Also this ones cheaper so though well we'll give it a try, took kitty kat and the kittens in.

Kitty kat got clean bill of health and taken through to be spayed at some point today and will get to pick her up lately.

Kittens both got clean bill of health and the triple vaccs each. Now everything was going really well until :-

red flag one - little black decided to play up as she didn't like being manhandled so he pinned her down by the scruff of the next and said "no" pretty loudly - he said to me "you must do this to make them behave!"
(seriously if this guy knew what she was like 4 weeks ago he wouldn't of got his face that close in the first place!)

red flag two and what concerns me the most!
little blue was good as gold, didn't even squeak while having the injection HOWEVER seconds before he put the injection into little blues neck he'd managed to shove it straight through his own finger!

I didn't even get the chance to say anything before he'd already taken it out and done the vaccs! I mean he didn't even move or anything! and this guys finger was pouring with blood and it dripped all over blue within seconds!

Has anyone had anything like this before? I mean what are the chances of contamination from the needle?

He then went on trying to tell me all about the dos and donts with cats and behaviour and I should be disciplining them harshly otherwise they'll keep these bad habits forever etc etc!

He was lucky I was in a good mood cus even in a brilliant mood I wanted to punch him!

I'm pretty sure he was just dealing with the people coming in to be seen and nothing to do with the op side of things thankfully!

The one in just for pets, Ive met the lady vet there before and she seemed really nice but it was a young guy with an accent, not sure what accent though - I was thoroughly gobsmacked - IF i go again i'll be making sure its the lady and not this guy again!

Re: Hmmm hope that vets not spaying her!

Oh er! Sounds like a very bad first visit!

I'm registered with three vets depending on what I'm after, if it's routine vaccs I go to the cheap, smelly vets if it's something serious I go to the expensive new vets, to get spayed Maisie is going to yet a different vets a cat only one!
If your not happy defo go register with another one untill you find one your happy with.

Discipling them harshly . If he tried to discipline one of my cats harshly or otherwise it wouldnt be the cat he had to watch out for . If there is more than one vet at that proactice I would make a complaint and refuse to see that vet again.

Wow.That is some "bedside manner".I have to be honest, well nearly honest .I perhaps would not have been "physical" with this "vet" but I would have collected kittens & cat and been out the door so quick that my feet would have been smokin'.No vet should behave in such a manner.I trust this will be your last visit to this particular vet

Re: Hmmm hope that vets not spaying her!

I had a feeling you were going to say this vet and I am TRULY gobsmacked because I think they are the best thing since sliced bread. I've had a quick chat with one of the girls there - I know them THAT well now...... - and she has advised that he is only a locum and is only here for this week. Please DON'T let this experience put you off this place because they are one of the best in town - USUALLY!!!!!

In all my years of being a pet owner, I have not come across a vets practice as good as this one.

Oh definately! - He said just before I left - "dont forget I'll need to see them in 3 weeks for their other one" and I just muttered and walked out thinking oh no YOU wont be seeing them EVER!

Oh and when he'd put the syringe through his finger he also said "oh dont worry its not the first time its happened and probably wont be the last" mad:

I kept my cool cus Kitty kat was already through the back and pretty sure I saw the lady I DID like through there so hopefully she's doing the ops!

Oh and dont worry I have already complained and will be taking it further as he was just too relaxed about stabbing his finger then happily putting the same needle into poor little blue!

Re: Hmmm hope that vets not spaying her!

Don't like the sound of this guy at all and if I wished to remain the practice, I'd look to a different one there. The only plus here is this guy appears to have a very high pain threshold!! Totally irrelevant, of course. I'm a great believer in trusting my instincts where people and that includes vets are concerned. Red flags are there for a reason.
