Re: new kittens!

I understand being attached to THESE particular kittens. However, if you have met and you are attached, then surely you want them to be happy and healthy. That = not taking them at 7 weeks.

If you havent met them and are not yet emotionally attached again, that = not taking them at 7 weeks....

Re: new kittens!

Ok in my house i currently have 3 kittens, 1 is ours and was born here, 2 are from a rescue mum I took in they were from a litter of 4 but 2 had already been rehomed at 6 weeks old as "they were eating solids and litter trained so thought they were ready" now they are 10 weeks old and STILL occasionally feed from their mum! They are also learning essential skills in socialising with not only other cats but also how they are supposed to act with humans.

The grey and white one is the 10 week old boy, the black and white one on the right is star who is 6 weeks old today - could I imagine her being ready for a new home in a weeks time? Hell no yet yes she eats wet and dry food and is perfectly litter trained but still feeds from her mum maybe 5-6 just during the daytime! - I mean she's tiny - well technically as a singleton she's huge but shes still tiny! And as you can see at 10 weeks old they are still cute little bundles of kitten!

How far is the woman locating? Could she not take them with her and then you drive to pick them up when they are actually old enough to leave mum?

benn is on a distinguished road
Re: new kittens!

After much discussion, um going to ring the ladie tomorrow and let her lniw we are not going to take the kittens, and that she can take the deposit with her when she relocates!

Thanks everyone for all you help on clarifying and helping with the decision.
I'm going to have a carry on looking for kittens from a more reliable source who will let them go at the correct age.

Thanks

Well done Benn. You may have lost your deposit but you will save money in the long run by having kittens who are very healthy with a good strong immune system. This will mean fewer vet bills!!!!!

I appreciate that this was probably a hard decision, especially if you have already met the kittens, but it will not be long at all until you find kittens in the correct age group for re-homing and you will enjoy them all the more for knowing that you did the right thing by both the babies you get AND the ones you are leaving with their mother.

((hugs)) for being brave enough to do this.

Please let us know when you get your new kitts and please post up lots of piccies for us to ooohhhhhhh & aahhhhhhh over.
